Ultrasound

Anyone else have the 20 week ultrasound? I feel like I’m just whinging but the lady who did mine today was so rough and was just super rude. Like doing the ultrasound was just a major pain for her. I’m just 20 weeks but it’s the only day we could get in for months and she kept complaining that this sorta ultrasound is better at 22 weeks as baby is bigger. Didn’t use a whole lot of gel and actually made my bellybutton hurt/bleed a little from pressing and lack of gel. I don’t know how/if I should put a complaint in, as not sure if it’s the usual

That sounds super upsetting! I feel like this is the kind of thing we can complain about otherwise how do they know to do better? Hugs

That sounds awful. You should lodge a complaint!!!

I had a rude experience as well but she didnt make the experience physically painful, she her personality was just plain and rude. I just realised that some technicians are really happy for you and want to give you as much details as possible but others probably see 100 patients a day so they just don’t care. But if you feel like the experience is painful and attitude was horrible and you should put in a complaint.

@Divyana Poudel I do understand that tbh we are just a number they have to get through but it’s just so hard when it’s an exciting time as well to see baby but you’d think having worked in that sorta field you would have some sorta compassion

That’s so unfortunate, I’m sorry you had such a bad experience. You are well within your rights to make a formal complaint if you wish. The morphology can be done from 18-22w. I had mine done today at my birthing hospital and can say that in my experience I haven’t had an ultrasound be painful, uncomfortable yes, but definitely not painful or bleeding.

They are in the wrong job or should consider changing careers if patients are seen as just a number.

That horrible, I had mine today at 19 weeks, the lady was amazing and said 19-20 weeks is best.

I’m so sorry you had this experience… it’s supposed to be so special and some sonographers really lack bedside manner. We went to have ours done and I got an off vibe from the minute I was greeted by the sonogrpaher… she seemed anxious and was rushing me into the room. Once in there she was incredible clinical and sterile - I kept asking for reassurance and she told me a radiologist needs to look over the photos of babe she’s just hear to take them. My partner could tell I was SUPER uncomfortable and before we went any further we got up and walked out. I had my 20 week scan done yesterday with a different sonogrpaher and she was incredible. The experiences were night and day - it’s just unfortunate that it can be really touch and go.
