Energy Gels

I have just gotten back into running and want to increase my distance, which also means I need some food/gels on a run. Are there any gels that are safe when trying to become pregnant? I want to avoid any caffeine but looking for some ideas, please.

It depends on how far you’re going? I think 10km yes gels but for a 5km you don’t need any. How far are you running? Have a look at natural ways and fueling for your runs on Instagram. Like a heavy pasta meal the night before and things like rice Krispy treats on the day… toast and jam for breakfast a couple hours before. My 10km run I drank natural powders in water whilst I was running and it really helped

Thank you, yes looking at 10km and potentially a 21 but struggled on a previous 8k without anything.

Is this a morning run… I would start a later in the day 7/8km first (I’m not a fitness instructor just experience). Then once you’ve done that I would try it in the morning because later on in the day you’ve eaten more and your body has more energy. I’m not a fan of the energy bites because they are calories and I like to burn off the calories rather than just replace them

I am a big fan of Veloforte brand they have a nice tasty natural selection. Then keeping your electrolytes up will be a must

I don't think you need anything for a 5 or 10 km. I've only used gels for half marathon distance. I can usually get a better distance more comfortably in the morning. Just pace yourself and stay hydrated I'd say x

I am intolerant to caffeine and use the High5 Energy Gel Aqua, they do them with and without caffeine. The caffeine free ones are basically carbs and water x
