Mamas weight

Has anyone else struggled/struggling to gain weight postpartum? I’m an exclusively breastfeeding mama, I’ve never had issues with milk supply and I feel like I eat enough of a varied diet with plenty of calories throughout the day 😩 I think it’s time to get back into a gym routine, shake off the hibernation cobwebs and start lifting weights again. Has anyone else had a similar journey? 🫶🏻

Yes I’ve been breastfeeding for 3.5 years (2 babies back to back) and I’m underweight. I eat loads but rarely put weight on, although I’ve always been like this. My bum is completely flat, I’ve struggled with how my postpartum body looks and it’s hard to find clothes that suit my new shape. I am a little scared that I will balloon when I stop breastfeeding though 😆

Yes same, I weigh less now (9m pp) than I did before I was pregnant, I eat well and feel like I’m always hungry/snacking but can’t seem to gain weight and my body has lost all its shape, my bum is literally non existent 😭😭😭 (heard that’s super common with breastfeeding) but finding it hard to commit to the gym with me starting back at work soon and taking care of little one

@Georgia Nwabuko same!

@Jessica Oh wow, that’s an impressive journey! I guess sleep deprivation and stress won’t help, I feel like a lot of us mamas are often run down. I would absolutely love to balloon right now 😂

@Georgia Nwabuko Same! I’m completely with you on my body losing its shape. I used to have a bubble butt now I have a pancake 😭 I’m going to go for an hour on my husbands days off and the weekend, I’ve got to build some muscle for my own sanity 🥲

Same here - I was down below pre-pregnancy weight way too fast after birth, and have struggled to gain weight back since. I found it hard emotionally, particularly early on - people tended to assume I would be happy about being ‘back in shape’, but I just felt so fragile and drained and panicky. I do have some breast milk oversupply, which likely has contributed, but my doctor said it’s just how some people are (though did check my thyroid levels just in case - all normal for me, but can be an issue PP). I’ve kind of resigned myself to keeping exercise low/moderate until I finish breastfeeding - I tried gradually upping it but I ended up having dizzy spells and just feeling awful. I’m hoping that by doing a moderate amount regularly it’ll make it easier to get back into the routine once the time comes. I miss hiking…
