NHS Policy on Bathing Baby

Hi all, did the hospital give you the choice of bathing baby after birth or did they do it without asking like standard procedure? I’d like to avoid bathing her at the hospital, so need to know if they’ll ask me or do I have to let it be known after I give birth

When I've asked they've said that they don't bath the baby

We stayed in for 5 nights and I just wiped him down with cotton wool and water but they don't offer a bath

They say not to bath the baby until the cord has fallen off so no they shouldn’t bath the baby at all I’ve never had to mention it both times I’ve given birth

They don't bath the baby they jus wipe baby down abit with a towel from my experience

They don’t offer baths and don’t recommend till after cord falls off

They asked me if i wanted to give him a bath

My hospital offered us the opportunity for a baby bath demo where they showed us how to bath him properly and safely so he did have his first bath in hospital. It was the day after he was born before we were discharged. They told us we could bath him as long as we made sure his cord was dried afterwards before clothing him. We then gave him one more bath at home the following week before his cord came off to help him with his gassy tummy and again allowed his cord to dry properly afterwards. His cord was fine and fell off normally when it was ready and was completely healthy underneath

My mum bathed my baby girl the day after lol !
