Breast feeding/pumping help

To all my bf mamas, how can I increase my milk supply ? My almost three month is now refusing the breast and I have to constantly distract her for her to take it and I’m overwhelmed. I pump but probably once a day or every other day and due to that I get 2-3 oz when I pump which is not enough so I can bottle feed her throughout the day because im so close to quitting breast feeding bc of how difficult it is for her to latch and to make it worse she only takes my left breast and no longer has interest in my right 😣 please help me with tips and tricks 🙏🏼

And what breast pump can I use? I’m using a manual right now bc idk which electric pump is worth purchasing

@Cecilia you could use Spectra S1, it has a rechargeable battery, and it's quiet great and gentle.

aww i’m sorry you’re going through that. they don’t tell you about how hard bf is until you experience it yourself🤦🏽‍♀️. sounds cliche but drink more water and pump/more often. a lactation consultant told me to nurse then pump every 3 hours for 3-5 days. i did and although my nipples went through it, it was helpful so if you’re able to, try that.

1. Get help from an IBCLC for the latch issues 2. I used the same Spectra S2 (the blue one, so maybe the S1) for both my girls to get them each through 15.5 months of breastfeeding. See if your insurance will cover a pump 3. The only way to produce milk is to remove milk. If your LG will only nurse 1 side, start by offering the refused side then switch to the preferred side. While LG is nursing use a passive collector like a Haakaa to catch the letdown on the opposite side. Karrie Locher on Instagram has lots of great tips and tricks of breastfeeding success

Make an appointment with a LC. My son refused to latch from day 1 so I had to pump. I used th spectra initially which was great but switched to the Pumpables Genie Advanced which was amazing.I used it with th spectra bottles/momcozy v1/v2 cups. I finally made an appointment with a LC for latching issues bcos pumping was too much work&breastfeeding just sounded a lot easier + th benefits of th feedback loop from babys saliva. After a couple appointments I managed to get my son to latch for about 5 mins at a time &it got better day by day. Eventually my son started to prefer th breast to th bottle & I've been EBF him ever since. He's now 14m. An LC will help you tremendously especially if your baby maybe has a tongue or lip for that needs to be addressed or smth else going on. If you do want to try increasing your supply in the meantime you need to pump every 2 hours. The more milk you take out the more milk your body is going to make. You'll start to see a difference in a few days. Lots of water&eat eat eat!

Tongue or lip tie*

This is what I did/used: 1. Power pump once or twice a day 20 on 10 off 10 on 10 off 10 on I use a spectra s2 & lumbi l1 (great hands free pump) 2. Stay super hydrated (about 3.8L a day) 3. Milky mama products I use the emergency brownies, the cookies (the salted caramel ones are delicious), & the supplements (lady leche & pumping queen are my favorites) 4. Legendairy Milk Sunflower Lecithin

We had this issue I gave up direct feeding at 3 weeks but was barely trying by then any way due to medical issues in first week at start and now exclusively pump and plan to untill weaned Wearables where the game changer pop them in get on with life empty after 20 mins rinse repeat in 4 hours Can comfortably pump every 4-6 hours and feed every two At the start had to power pump every few days to copy a cluster feed to boost supply and do a few extended pumps to deal with engorments clogs ect from learning to pump properly but it’s settling now And bonus baby gets breast milk saves a fortune on formula husband can help I get 4 hours of sleeps Works for us

@Julia thank you! What breast pump did you use??

@Chris thank you sooo much! I will def be trying the milky mama products 🤞🏼 first time exclusively pumping, I hope it works!!

@Cecilia I have the kiss bobo gle10 set but I wouldn’t recommend as a primary if exclusively pumping have had a breakage already and some parts nearly wearing out But there’s a good cheap wearable as a secondary or if you are nursing and pumping so like not always pumping

@Charlotte thank you!! I offer her every chance but she doesn’t take it :/ that breast feel so saggy while the other doesn’t! I don’t know if that’s a issue. I will def be talking to a lactation consultant because I did not have this issue with my first.

@Marian thank you!! Will try to be consistent w pumping hopefully it works and I get milk supply back up!

@Cecilia the side she doesn't take has adjusted the supply to produce less. That's why it feels saggy/soft. To relactate that side, it will need stimulation. Even stimulation with no output will tell your body that production is needed, so keep stimulating it and with consistency you'll see output again

How do I stimulate? By pumping or squeezing it? And thank you didn’t know this

@Cecilia By pumping, putting baby to breast (even if LO doesn't latch or latch long), or using a Haakaa type of passive collector while LO nurses the other side

@Charlotte thank you will do!
