@Dianne born at 35+4, now 36+3
Agree with @Dianne. My LG was slightly jaundice and we woke regularly for feeds and we found that this helped flush out the jaundice very quickly
Mine was born 34+5 and we stayed in hospital for 2 weeks so he could have light therapy for his jaundice. His levels took a while to down and only last week he was discharged fully from the neonatal team at 5 weeks old. It did make him super sleepy as did being under the lights - we had to wake him at least every hours to feed. That combined with his prematurity meant he was asleep pretty much all the time
@Abigail yeah my little one just seems to want to sleep, makes me feel very paranoid that somethings wrong x
My baby had jaundice when he was born at 40+2 and until it started to clear up he was constantly asleep. I had to wake him for feeds overnight and I had such difficulty latching him because he wouldn’t wake up enough to latch, even while tickling his feet. It’s normal.
Jaundice babies are typically quite sleepy and need to be woken to feed regularly. The more they feed the better as it helps flush out the jaundice. If you are in hospital for jaundice they may consider phototherapy depending on your baby’s serum bilirubin (SBR) levels and depending on your baby’s gestation. How premature is your little one?
