Does the sweep hurt?

I’ve been told by other women they were screaming in pain whilst others say that it was just uncomfortable..

It was worse than giving birth for me 😭 but every woman has a different story. Don’t look in to it too much x

I had my first one the other day don't by a Dr and it was uncomfortable but then I had a cervical check later in the day done by a nurse as the sweep had triggered some really bad contractions I thought I was in labour and the nurse was so aggressive I burst straight into tears

I had 2 sweeps 3 days apart and found both absolutely fine :) x

How do you go with Pap smears? For me they weren’t any worse than a pap. Just more uncomfortable than anything. But I do personally believe it has more to do with how dilated you are too. I’ve been at least 2cm dilated with all of my sweeps

@Sharnee I’ve not had a pap! Okay I’ll try to find out how dilated I am first before deciding if/when to go for it, the comments on here sound like different experiences!

@Zoė did it work for you then? x

@Chanty omg 😩

That was on Thursday and it's not Sunday morning and I'm still waiting on baby, but I have been having contractions on and off x

@Zoė contractions for that long doesn’t sound fun! Hope it happens soon for you x

It's really not, I'm so fed up with them and would love to just be pushing by now, and thank you x

I had 2, one day after the other and it was uncomfortable but I wouldn't say painful. Just grit your teeth and try and relax your lower half 😊

Depends on who is doing it to be honest! My first one was absolutely fine didn’t bat an eye. My second one was done by a different midwife and I could have screamed the hospital down. I had to get her to stop and I completely skipped the option for a third one after that second experience. I would also never get one again in a future pregnancy that has scarred me 🤣 also nothing happened for me after either other than losing a bit of mucus plug after the second but I ended up being induced a week later

i had one during my induction, wouldn’t say it was painful but i was also on the gas and air 😂👌🏼

I had 2, both were fine, just a bit uncomfortable. You can take painkillers beforehand if you’re worried

It’s more uncomfortable and invasive than painful. As someone said similar to a smear test. Can’t say it worked though as both mine were ten days late.

I had one when my cervix was completely closed and I'll be honest I found it really painful. I then had another one when I was 1 or 2 cm dilated and that one was absolutely fine. Hope it's not too bad for you 🤞 It depends on the reason for the sweep obviously but remember you don't have to accept one if you really don't want one.

Honestly I wouldn’t look too into it, most people told me bad experiences but I had my sweep and it was a few minutes of pressure just more than a smear and it was a success for me I went into labour that evening! The more relaxed I was the easier I found it wishing you the best of luck if you get it🤞🏼

I didn’t feel anything at all

I had one to try kick start Labour and it was a little uncomfortable but okay .. I had one during Labour to speed it up as my waters had broken a while before and that bloody hurt it even made my Mr squinty and look away
