Do babies stop breastfeeding on their own ?

My daughter is almost 2 years now. I have tried almost everything to stop breastfeeding at night, but failed miserably. She doesn’t want my feed for the entire day. She doesn’t want my feed to go to bed. But, whenever she wakes up at night, she just want my breasts. Only that can put her back to sleep. I have tried almost everything now. I just want to know, do babies stop breastfeeding on their own? Any stories? Any suggestions? Thank you

Are you still making milk or does she just comfort feed? My son weaned himself off as my supply just depleted when he was 16-17m old. Babies usually wean themselves off when supply stops since they don’t get anymore milk. Does she go to daycare ? She could also be going thru separation anxiety.. if that is the case maybe she just needs more time. Sorry this wasn’t helpful!

My daughter naturally stopped on her own! I’ve been nursing her for 2 years as well! Just give it time. Now I have to wean her off the bottle she can’t go to sleep without a bottle of milk most nights either

Some do

Maybe a cup with water a cuddle and tuck in

@Neha she started daycare long back hence the daytime feeds stopped with it. Only when she wakes you up during the night. And yes, I am still making milk. The supply isn’t stopping 😅

@Susan good to know that :)

@Tara she throws everything away and cries and cries 🥲

Haha lucky you (?) lol I was very sad when my supply stopped with both my kids. But at the same time was quite relieved 😅 just give it time. Or try the water cup cuddle method! Hopefully it helps for you! Maybe it’s just your body warmth that she needs!

@Neha yes, I think I am her pacifier! But thank you Neha 🙂

I went away on vacation for a week and my youngest stopped as he was very much like that.

I was in a very similar situation. I was only able to get him to night wean when I went on a work trip. I was gone for 4 nights. Night 1 was hard on dad and there were a few early mornings, but after that, he never nursed at night again. We started to keep a snack in the bedroom though because sometimes he was genuinely hungry and it stopped him from having early mornings.

@Samantha vacation seems like an answer to me 🤭
