has anyone let there baby try certain fruits or vegetables at 4 months? his pediatrician said he can start trying some but i’m just unsure on what and how to go about it with him, my mom let him suck on a apple once and he loved it then my baby dad let him suck on a cucumber which he hated lol, i just don’t know how to approach it or if she meant like canned baby food, she did say cereal we can start i just have yet to find the correct one in stores near me so we haven’t started that yet, im just nervous.

@Amanda so purées are okay to start at 4 months? and puffs? i’ve been eyeing puffs like that uo when we go to stores just not sure if it’s okay for his little self

I've been waiting until 6 months.

My LO is 5 months and about a week ago we let her have mashed banana for the first time. I’ve also given her an orange slice to suck on. She can’t quite sit in a high chair properly so we’re waiting until then to formally start her on solids.

We attempted the purées a few days past 4 months, we also tried the rice cereal, he was not a fan at all. Go to the baby section and the jars will have the steps in which to start first, the cereal just make sure is very thin! The puffs we started at about 4.5 and he loves to hold and suck on them! Safe and organic!

I started with avocado.. next up will be a very watered oatmeal mixture. I really don’t think there is a right and wrong but from my readings and personal beliefs it is best to start them with bland foods rather than sweet foods (which makes sense given how much of a sugar addicted society we are).. so at my house we will be hitting all the bland veggies before we hit up any fruit! Again, everyone is going to do it their own way.. I get the nerves! I don’t want to mess my kid up for life lol 😂

Our LO showing so much interest in food at 4 months. We didn’t start giving her with sweet potato puree that is watered down with breastmilk until 5 months. She loved it. Planning to introduce more at 6 months

I plan to start feeding closer to 6 months. And I know that you definitely need to start with vegetables, because after sweet fruits the baby will no longer want tasteless vegetables. You can start with broccoli and cauliflower.

@Natasha same here

My little man has been gummy veggies for about two months and we started on purees about 3 weeks ago

I have a 4 month old, and i got a baby blender and we’ve just started blending different fruits or veggies and he loves it!

My babe is 4 1/2 months and we just gave him mashed banana yesterday after his pediatrician said solids were okay to start because of his head control. She said the only thing is try the same food for 3 or so days to test for any allergic reactions and to start with purees and then switch to food he can grab and feed himself so he learns different textures and motor skills

My pediatrician suggested researching puree feeding vs Baby Led Weaning and choose what we wanted. And to follow the 3 day rule for food allergies. We ordered a high chair and will practice with him sitting in it for the next few weeks before attempting any food.

We just started trying baby foods with my little (she just turned 5 months). We chose an organic non gmo oatmeal based cereal which was not a hit, which is no surprise bc I’m sure it doesn’t taste like much 😂 she’s also had apples (she likes them), sweet potato (she really likes them), and banana (she loves them) and then we put some formula in with the nana’s to make them thinner and she really loved that.

Worth mentioning, we practiced sitting up in high chair/bumbo for a couple weeks before we tried solids we are also following the 3 day recommendation, and lastly she only has solids once a day and we follow with a bottle. These methods seem to be working good for us! Best of luck! It’s so fun watching them try new foods!
