BMI - Long Post!

Hey girls! So I’m on my second pregnancy and had my booking appointment over the weekend, and I’m finding this one so different than my last pregnancy! For context, I was in really good shape during my first pregnancy as we had just gotten married. This time round I’m a little bigger than I was ( not by much but my BMI is over 30 according to my midwife) Unfortunately I’m not one of those girls who snap back, even though I wish I was 😂 I’ve now been given more folic acid, I’m assuming that’s because of my BMI? And also I now have to have the Glucose test, even though I’m not diabetic and neither are close family 🙃 I’m worried that my options will be limited now all because of my BMI 🙃 and worse I will be forced into an indication when the time comes!! Is that going to be the case? Thanks gals 🩷

Hey! My BMI was over 30 for my 1st pregnancy & folic acid 5mg is just to help your body a bit more as the lower dose doesn’t do much and the glucose gestational diabetes test I’m sure everyone has to do it. Options won’t be limited as it’s discrimination and my advice would be fight for what you want and don’t just sit back and accept what they tell you🤣

Thank you lovely! 🩷

Would recommend following the heavyweight midwife, she also has a Facebook group which I think is £3.50 a month to join, full of advise and helps you advocate for yourself

They took my measurements wrong but even with them correct I’m still just over 30, ive already commented on my “care plan” on badger notes that I won’t be taking an induction on my due date based solely on BMI alone and I will still want to birth on the birthing centre - It’s right next door to the labour ward anyway! Fight for what you want definitely
