Booking appt
So I had my booking appt nearly a week ago now, I have a big blood phobia but was super proud and managed to have the blood tests done at my local GP all by myself 🤣🙌🏻
I know some bruising after can be normal but I never had it like this before.. anyone else’s arm look like it’s been savaged after their blood test? 😬 really put me off having it done again 😂
The midwife was lovely and didn’t seem to mess around so don’t think she had an issue finding the vein but my arm was incredibly sore for a few days after!

I find i bruise less when I press harder and longer on it after the needle is out x

I was like this too. Went away in a few days but this was the worst blood test I’ve ever had, she was a training midwife, did not prepare so was holding the needle in my arm while ferreting around in a draw trying to find a tube -.- I don’t know what she did but half way through when she wasn’t watching what she was doing it felt like she shoved a 8 inch needle in my arm. I HATE needles so this wasn’t the best experience for me. On the other hand, I had a blood test a few months prior to being pregnant and the phlebotomist was incredible. Hardly felt a thing. But the bruising was worse and lasted over a week. 🤷♀️ so I don’t know why we bruise more sometimes rather than others but I believe it’s all normal. On my sister’s last blood test the bruise dropped through to her elbow, which is also totally normal.
