I've also been having growth scan and seeing the consultant, but I still have midwife appointments in between. Does seem a bit strange!
Is it maybe because you’re more consultant led care? I had an appointment at about 29 weeks I think then one today for 34 weeks then have been booked in for another at 36 weeks and I think she said they are 2 weekly now until I give birth
@Christina I think it’s a little strange tbh 🤷🏻♀️ I’m considered “high risk” due to my BMI hence the growth scans however everything has been perfect and had no complications. I know I’m getting monitored at the hospital with my blood pressure and urine etc but it just seems strange I wouldn’t be building a relationship with my midwife alongside it 😅 I see everyone going to their midwife appointments and I’m here like “hey guys how’s it hanging”
Since I was 26 week’s pregnant my midwife app have gone from every 8 weeks to every 3/5 weeks I was told the further along in ur pregnancy the more closer together the app will be. I wondered if your not seeing a midwife until at the very end because your with a consultant. When I was 14 weeks to 20weeks I don’t believe I had a midwife app and this is because I was under a consultant care but once I got taken off that the regular app with midwife continued. It’s just a thought maybe , but if your concerned or you wish to see your midwife soon then I would contact your community midwife (the one you have the app booked with ) not mamma line and say that you wish to have your app moved forward I’m sure they will have no issues doing that for you x
@Jprc it does seem weird… she was really nonchalant about it like “I won’t see you now till either 40+4 or for home visits” you’d think you would spend the time building up a rapport with the midwives as I am planning a normal birth not a consultant led birth 🤷🏻♀️
Just for reference I’m now 33 weeks + 3 days and have seen my community midwife 2 or 3 times since I was 26 weeks pregnant my next one is early next week. X
I’m seeing mine every 2 weeks
@Zoe potentially I did think this as I do see my consultant every 3 weeks but it’s purely for growth scans as my BMI is high. There was no other concerns and my pregnancy has been very “bog standard” in the sense of baby has had no issues and is measuring perfect. I’ve also planned to have a normal birth that isn’t consultant led so I’d be in the birthing centre with the midwives as well 🤷🏻♀️ I’d understand maybe a little more if I was planning a consultant led birth but I have no reason at the moment to do that as everything is normal 😅 10 weeks seems a long time to go without a midwife appointment
That doesn't seem quite right, have you gone over your birth plan with your midwife? I'd expect them every 2 to 3 weeks at this stage.
@Charlotte ive had a total of around 4 community midwife appointments and was under the impression during my third trimester it would increase 😅 I’m not particularly concerned as I’m still being seen every 3 weeks and have everything checked like I would at a midwife appointment but it’s a new relationship I have to build with my consultant (who I met for the first time at 32 weeks) and it seems I’m the only one who doesn’t/isn’t seeing a midwife throughout the third trimester and purely consultant 😅. Maybe my midwife hates to see me and thought “he can deal with her instead” 😂😂 I think I might mention it at my next growth scan (next Monday) and see what they say x
@Terrianne is this alongside seeing a consultant or purely just midwife? X
@Ruth honestly she just told me to do it through the badger app and write out my birth plan on there 🤷🏻♀️ so that’s what I did. I’m planning on having a normal birth as well in terms of no extreme interventions (epidural, c section) so it would be midwife led anyway 🤷🏻♀️
@Natasha I haven’t seen any consultant. I have had growth scans every 2 weeks followed by midwife only
@Terrianne how strange 🤔 I have my growth scans every 3 weeks. Which is followed by having my blood pressure, urine checked and then off to see my consultant where he talks me through my scan results and it’s usually very short conversation of “everything looks normal and healthy” I then go on about my day 😅

I have mine every 3 weeks.. has she already gone over birth plans etc with you? As usually they would be doing that around the 36week appointment. Even when I've had growth scans and been dealt with by the hospital I'm giving birth in, I've always had consistent appointments with my community midwife. I get different trusts do things differently, but that seems unusual x
I last saw my midwife last week and seeing her again next week and then again at 38 and 40 weeks, I am also consultant led x
That does seem a little strange I had a appointment 6 March then I have another on the 20th March I’ll be 35 weeks & then I’ll have one more around 37 weeks x(Nottingham)
Yeah I'm pretty sure you should have an appointment like every 2 weeks until you get even closer than once a week? I could be wrong though
https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/your-pregnancy-care/your-antenatal-appointments/ You should be seeing your midwife every 2 weeks from 34 weeks x
Depends what type of care you are listed as (you can check on Badger) I’m down as shared care so see Mw, consultant and GP. If consultant only now then likely you won’t see Mw until you’ve given birth.
I’m 32 weeks, had midwife at 31 weeks and booked in again for 34 weeks +4 days x
i’ve got a sheet from my first midwife appointment and it says i’ll be seeing my midwife at 28, 32, 34 and 36 weeks, but i think these are most likely just her booking my growth scans as i’ve not even had any dates for my 28 week midwife appointment and i’m 29 weeks saturday😂
Mine is the same as you love! Last appointment was 34 weeks now I will just see the consultant after my scans xx
Since I was 32 weeks, I have appointments scheduled for every two weeks and it’s my second baby.
You should be seeing her every two weeks in the final stages of your pregnancy.
Yeah, I'm so surprised by this, I am also having 3 weekly scans, had my midwife appointment today and my next is for 2 weeks time and I'm 33 weeks and 5 days... I'm in Hadleigh, Suffolk so maybe you're right and it's different... I'm not even sure who you could ask? Maybe speak to triage or antinatal at your local hospital?
I am 34 weeks and seen midwife last week and I see her again for last time at 37 weeks, I’m classed as low risk! Had very little appts and only 2 scans whole pregnancy so could be diffrent for me? But defo think you should be seeing her at least once more before baby?
