Blocked tear ducts - general anathestic

Hi mamas. It's like I blinked and now my tiny baby is so big 🥹 Just a quick question to ask if anyone's little one has had to have general anathestic? My little boy needs a small procedure to try and resolve blocked tear ducts as he constantly has sticky eyes 😔 I know the procedure is the right thing to do for him but I'm having a hard time processing that he will have to be put under GA. I actually think im quite an easy going Mummy and cope with most things faily well but we had a traumatic birth and he was really poorly when he was born, so the thought of them taking him away from me whilst in a hospital fills me with anxiety. Just looking for any advice or reassurance if anyone has been through something like this. Thank you ❤️

Hi, yes my daughter was born with a blocked tear duct in one eye which got worse and ended up being infected really bad to the point it lifted her eye up and she couldn’t open it, she was then taken into hospital and ended up having the operation which was scheduled in but then an emergency cos she was at risk of sepsis and meningitis from the infection. She was only 3 weeks old. My anxiety was something else, she had to have an op where she was put to sleep and a probe down her eye and nose to unblock them and she had two in both eyes. I remember not being allowed in the room when they put the mask on her and I just burst into tears having to leave her and her being so tiny. I think I cried the whole time and was watching the clock tik, it was horrible but also knowing she needed the op to get better, but honestly it was the longest 1 hour 30 mins of my life! You got this 💕 praying your little boys op goes well which I’m sure it will and before you know it he’ll be back in your arms❤️

My son has had sticky eye ever since he was born, had 3 lots of eyedrops and his eye swabbed twice. Still waiting for a referral 18 months later 🙈 Hope it all goes well. X

My son is also on a wait list for this, he was referred at 12 months and still waiting for an appointment! Had sticky eyes since birth on and off. I know when it comes to it I’ll be a nervous wreck but it’s the best thing for him as the older he gets it’s definitely starting to irritate him! X

My daughter was born with this and have comments every day from random people about being poorly but doctors won’t do anything about it!!!
