Ciprolex/Lexapro

Has anyone taken ciprolex/lexapro from postpartum anxiety/postpartum panic attacks? I’ve been suffering for a few months now and it is slowly getting better but I still have my bad days and night where i will have panic attacks or they will wake me up from my sleep. Has anyone had experience with this? Should I just take the meds? I’m afraid I won’t be able to get off them or that they will make my anxiety and panic attacks worse. Any input would be so very appreciated 🙏

Hey. How are you? I have had panic attacks that wake me up since 2019. It's not all the time, but it's definitely disorienting. Maybe try some relaxation methods before bed?

Meeeee I’m still on 20mg started at 10

Message me if you need to 😘

@Niki I’m doing okay, as good as I can be for the situation. I was completely relaxed but I was woken up from panic attacks I think from what I was dreaming about? It sounds so ridiculous. Do you take anything for yours? I’m so scared I’m going to be plagued with this forever.

@Paige do you find it actually helped you? Did your anxiety/panic get worse when you started? Have you had any side effects? I’m so torn on what to do.

Lexapro is an SSRI that can help with depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. It usually takes 6-8 weeks to start working once therapeutic dose is reached (10mg-20mg daily). Higher doses are usually needed to treat panic attacks. It can have transient side effects of worsening anxiety, headaches ,GI upset, etc, as the body adjusts to the medication, but these side effects generally resolve within a couple weeks. It is recommended to take the medication for at least 1 yr if this is your first episode, 5 yrs if this is your 2nd episode, and lifelong for 3+ episodes. There are no life threatening withdrawal symptoms when coming off the medication.

I've been taking Cipralex since 2016 when I started have daily panic attacks after my surgeries. It put a stop to the physical symptoms I was having but I still get anxiety every now and then but it's much more manageable with the Cipralex. It does take a couple of weeks to start kicking in.

Lexapro was the only medicine that ever worked for me. My husband just started up and it's been helping. Remember not to give up because it gets worse. It will unfortunately get worse before it gets better.

I've been on 20mg of Lexapro since 2016 and literally saved my life. I've never had any side effects from it. It does take about 6-8 weeks for it to build to a steady level in your body so don't expect overnight changes, you have to stick with it for a bit to truly get the effects. I was able to come off if it once in 2021 for about two years, then my anxiety came back with pregnancy, but I had no problems originally coming off of it either. Feel free to message if you want!
