Extended Rear Facing Car Seat - Nissan Juke

Hi everyone
I am looking for an extended rear facing car seat for my nearly 3 year old for my sisters car (Nissan Duke) without having to move the front car seats as she and her husband are both tall

Any recommendations please?

What centiles is she on?
Whats the budget?

Is the front seat an option?

Can you measure how much space you have available in the back when the front seats are in the correct seating position x

What sort of centiles is your little?

The Avionaut Sky is one of the more compact ERF seats on the market

I will have to find out the gentiles. The last time she had it professional done was for her two year development review.

How could I work it out for her now?
I know her weight 17kg and she's 3 in May

@Emily this is my worry. We use a spare that when i looked at it todag encourages forward facing at 18kg with just the seat belt strap in the car already.
I was gobsmacked!

here’s a centiles chart

at not even 3 years old and 17kg, personally I would opt for a 36kg seat like the Axkid movekid or minikid 4 xx

With these you need a minimum of 54cm with no extended leg room.

Try and measure and see what you have to work with, there isn’t any 36kg ERF seats smaller than the above though x

, agreed

Just to mention too in case you aren’t aware, forward facing seats need a survival gap of 55cm (from the child’s nose to the seat in front). So lots of people will choose to forward face to not compromise on their leg room, but actually to make it safe (or as safe as forward facing can be) there has to be a big gap anyway, which is very similar if not bigger than rear facing seats! I hope this makes sense!

I also know you have asked specifically for erf, but thought it’s always worth mentioning in case anyone suggests it! X

I can’t help with seats that will
Save space but the britax max pro ERF is very bulky in my car that is a similar size to a Nissan juke. My mums the only one who can fit in with the seat behind at 5’3

@Kiera yes the axkid minikid 4 is what I have in my own car and I love how solid it is. But i know it wouldn't fit in my sisters car because the backseats just aren't very spacious. We have the passenger seat moved forward in our BMW 5 series. We are looking at buying a bigger car soon as I am pregnant again and with the passenger seat being practically out of use. As a soon to be family of 4 it would be practical.

What is the space you need between an ERF carseat and the passenger seat? XX

Avatar

most of them can lightly touch but not push against.
If the minikid won’t fit you won’t find much else other than the sky but then that seat won’t last for your child’s centiles xx

Avatar

I think your going to struggle! We have a Nissan juke and struggle to fit our joie car seat, I don’t think we’d fit an extended RF car seat properly

Avatar

Ok thankyou everyone for your help Xx

I had an axkid move in my juke. Had it behind passenger and had to have it in the upright position so there was atleast some sort of leg room for the passenger. In the end I put the car seat in the front as there was more leg room in the back. They aren’t very spacious cars though, they are essentially a Nissan micro on stilts xx

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

Night time routine

Heya, my 3 week old daughter is currently exclusively breastfed and I’m not pumping. Can anyone recommend the best way to share the load with my partner? At the moment I’m doing all the feeds/burbs/settling and my partner is sleeping through which obviously isn’t sustainable, I’m trying to work out the best way to get him involved. Any advice very much appreciated!

Rapid cool/ hot shot method

Sorry if this sound stupid but how are we doing the hot shot method?
Are we boiling the kettle and letting it cool a little before adding to hot flask? Then with the cool water do you boil the kettle and leave it to cool right down before putting into another flask?
My baby brain is fried trying to work out the easiest way!
