How long after returning to work from maternity do you have to work before you can go off on maternity again?
I have a 3 month old and planning on taking the year but I would like a close age gap between the next (18months plus gap).

It will depend on your policy. My work has no rules, but some potentially do.
Depends on employer but I'm not sure if you have to go back within a certain time to qualify for SMP again? X
As others have said, it would be worth checking your company’s own policies - the 8 week period of earning £123+ weekly would also apply I think? So that would be worth factoring in x

I think it depends on your employer and whether they have anything in their policy but generally I don’t think there are rules about going back to work before starting leave again. If you were planning to leave your employment, that’s different, there are rules around how long you need to return in order not to pay back mat pay. I went back to work on 1st Feb 24 after having my first and went on leave again on 1st Nov 24, no issues. x
