Sleep regression sounds like. Possibly teething also.
Mine around 4 months had his regression and it felt like forever even though we gentle sleep trained and it only lasted for maybe 2 weeks. I know sleep training can be a hot button topic but I do recommend gentle sleep training. Basically do your research on gentle methods and what sleep training is actually for (to teach the baby to fall asleep by themself and self soothe) and try what fits your baby's temperament. We had to do pick up put down during the 4 month regression. He's 8 months now and we've had to change up methods with a new regression, but still 4 months once he figured out self soothing and falling asleep by himself, he slept 12-14 hours through the night (not all baby's will do that but your baby will sleep longer).
They change how they sleep at 4 months which causes a big regression. It usually passes within a week or two. Sleep training has been mentioned but I believe the guidance/recommendation on that is from 6 months plus.

@Natalie i think training advice depends on the method and where you live. I was taught some by my healthcare team for my son at 4 months and did research, some definitely is 6 months or older only but lots of gentle ones are 4 months plus
Teething? And probably sleep regression. I tried so much and nothing worked so he just slept with me, sometimes you gotta pick the fights and I knew we both needed sleep so if it was with me so be it
