Our lil dog grazes through the day. We can’t just feed her x amount a day as she just gets so skinny so her food and water is left out. He’s at the stage of constantly trying to go to it etc. we just keep on top of it, keep moving and distracting him to other things. Eventually he will learn that they’re not his x
@Steph upside-down when their full and throw them around is our favourite game. What electrolytes do you give him?
So I have a labrador that grazes throughout the day so there's always so much food still in her bowl Apart from when I'm on the toilet my girl isn't allowed into the kitchen where the dogs food is and we have a baby gate to stop her getting through But unfortunately usually when I go toilet she gets the dogs bowls and empties them all over the floor, she even posts the dogs food through the catflap if yhe dog is outside 🤦🏻♀️🤣 Eating it I wouldn't worry to much as I believe dog food has to be made for human consumption so its safe to eat, although no doubt not very nice
The bowls are in the kitchen and I have a baby gate on there I just shut the gate and the dog asks to go in there, if the baby is in the kitchen then I take the bowls up
@Emma-louise Thor is a grazer and I feel like that makes things worse. My mums dogs are devourers 😂 the only reason I get worried about eating it is that kibble swells with liquid and I don't want it getting stuck in her digestive track anywhere
To be honest we just continued feeding the dog inside and left her water bowl there. Stayed on our now 2 y/o like a hawk and it only took like three days of consistent corrective action for him to not touch them anymore. Plus from the time he started walking we let him feed the dog every evening which I think helped! Obviously a lot of help from us at first but now at 2 he does it on his own
As I was reading this my little one walked over to the dog’s water bowl and put a toy in it 😅😭
I keep my cats food and water in the kitchen so my children cant get to it but even if they eat some biscuits it won’t hurt them
I have two dogs and two cages so I’d lock the food and water in the cages, and they’d rattle the cage when they wanted it open as they don’t eat as soon as I put it down, but now she’s nearly 2 she doesn’t touch it so I leave them open to access
Our toddler used to not only play with the water but also threw the food bowls outside down! It was a nightmare; we used to have to put them outside most of the time but what I did was to feed our dog by the kitchen whilst watching him and then showing him if he wanted more; he will have to go outside. So he knew! And the water, same thing although I give mine electrolytes water specially during summer so I would literally watch him drink it by the kitchen. (I got a Samoyed) It gets better!! Now my 3 year old doesn’t touch it but am going to have to go through the same with my newborn! Good luck
