Drop the dream feed

Little one goes to bed around 7/8PM, we wake up to feed at 10/11PM and then he goes back to sleep until 5/6AM. Some wake ups in the night but never for food. Do you ever drop the 10/11PM feed as that seems like a long time to sleep? If yes, how would you know when to do it and would you increase frequency of feeds in the day so they get calories?

With our first (bottle fed), we dropped the dream feed around 8/9 months when she was established on solids. We cut it by 30ml every 2 nights and also pulled the time back by 15 mins every 2 nights. Did this until we got to 21:00 and didn’t need a feed at that time as was too close to bed time feed. It worked well for her and she did start sleeping through the night around the same time she was on three meals anyway. Our second would wake for a feed around 01:00 regardless of having a dream feed or not so we just cut it cold turkey with him.

If they wake for a feed then they need it, not sure on baby’s age but night weaning isn’t recommended until 18m as far as I’m aware. If it’s a dream feed I’d just leave them to see if they wake up for it. If they do, then they still need it :)
