When to stop breastfeeding

I feel like time is flying and baby is 4 months next week. Have people given thought as to when to stop breastfeeding and how you will do it? I initially thought 6 months but I am not sure now. I cant say I enjoy it but it is fine for the most part. However it would be nice to get my body back and have more freedom.

I stopped this past week, I combination fed and only really bf in the morning, before bed and if he needed comfort during the day. I’m proud of my 4 months and happy with my decision. I slowly cut out feeds over the week and now haven’t had him on the breast for two days, I’ve only had 2 small leaks since, no engorgement or pain 😅

Stopping when he’s ready! Went to 14months with my first

@Eloise How do you know when they are ready?

I'm aiming for at least a year, as I had gestational diabetes and studies have shown that breastfeeding for a year reduces the risk of getting type 2 diabetes.

My first weaned himself, when we introduced foods he fed less often and then by 14months just not at all. They need milk until atleast 1 so try until then and see

I’ve been combination feeding for a week and hoping eventually to be formula fed, when he 5 months

But I’ve had no choice. I became ill and I didn’t realise my supply dropped so much my son lost weight. Formula has put the weight back on (thank goodness) I’m praying he will accept the formula full time and thrive

I want to stop by the time I'm back at work so I will start reducing breastfeed in favour of bottle 2 months prior to do it gradually.

I originally wanted 3, then 6 months but i want to try make it to year, ideally a year and a half i think! I would like to have the ability to diet without worrying about my supply though🫠

9-10 months when I go back to work. I'm hoping our LG will be fully weaned by then. Otherwise I may try to express milk until she doesn't need it anymore. I have loved breastfeeding as it has been so bonding so it's going to be bittersweet 🫠
