Yes, we had a vitamin deficiency since ours is a picky eater. She would cry and thrash herself on the floor constantly. We put Ella Olla Vitamins in her milk every morning. She gets mad when she can’t put a toy together but definitely less “tantrum” night and day for us! We usually hug her when she gets upset and tell her to ask for help if she can’t do something.
I am actually meeting with a child development coach to talk through this same experience. So far, here’s some of the info that’s been shared with me, if you’d like to reference it :) Tantrums result from your child being in a state of emotional "dysregulation." Simply put, this means they struggle to manage their feelings about something. Adults can easily become dysregulated and have adult-size tantrums, too-especially when we are exhausted or stressed. When a tantrum happens, several factors may be at play, but here are some underlying reasons: EXPANDING NEED FOR AUTONOMY: Many children have a growing need for autonomy and control This helps them build a strong sense of self, but it can also lead to power struggles DEVELOPING COMMUNICATION SKILLS: * Your child may be wanting/trying to communicate a need or preference It looks like I’ll exceed the character limit on the post, feel free to message me if you’d like the rest of this info.
@Rebekah if its okay to ask. Was the vitamin deficiency low iron by chance?
@Mimi I’ll sent you a message shortly 🙂
@Rebekah hows the vitamin working? Notice any difference?
@Asia b12, iron, C She was drinking too much cows milk so that was also another factor. We keep it to 12 oz a day and I add 4 oz of water/4 oz of milk and her vitamin in the morning. We now do iron fish in her bone broth soup.
@Aura absolutely! We don’t have the slamming on the floor tantrums. We just get the upset grunts when she can’t do something. Night and day for us!
@Rebekah thank you that makes perfect sense. I’m not sure about b12 or vitamin c but my baby does have an iron deficiency. I never knew that can cause tantrums.
Yes! Also I just got Mary Ruth’s multi vitamin as well as a vitamin C gummies and I love them for her. Def still has tantrums not as intense but honestly sometimes her hardcore tantrums come in phases - and I’ve been linking them with development leaps- there’s an app called Wonder Weeks- and I really love it a lot it’s not EXACT but it’s pretty spot on on giving me an idea of what development phases she’s going through
