Nursery funded hours

Hi ladies. I wonder if anyone can help me? My little boy is 9 months and I’m looking to put him into nursery for a few days a week when I’m back in work in May. How does the free hours work? Has anyone got any experience of this? I’m so confused!

I think the funded hours from 9 months are only eligible in England, I haven’t heard of wales implementing that as well

I thought the free hours were from ages 3 and above? I know it was like this a few years ago. X

The government website says the 15 free hours for children from 9 months only applies to England, from what I could find Wales only offers from 3 years old at 30 hours. So unfortunately looks like under 3s childcare is going to be full payments.

My little boy went 2 half days a week , he was 1.5. 8am - 1pm. we had the free 15 hours funded. However, because they provided lunch (we weren’t able to send him in with any lunch due to allergies for other children) they charged us with a ‘sustainability’ fee costing us just over £100 for the month. (I’m not sure if all nurseries are the same but I think it may depend on the nursery)

Wales is completely different to England when it comes to nursery and then again varies by postcode as some areas have flying start. I'm not sure Wales has anything from 9 months.
