Refusing solids

This is my second baby but I'm struggling with solids. Vabgvis already 7 months and a half and is still refusing to eat. I've tried all sorts of purées including runny consistesies, pieces of boiled potatoes in case he prefers baby led weaning. Nothing works and he just ends up crying and closing his lips. Abyo6eirh similar experience? What's the advice?

Do you still make formula too ??? Offer formula to calm little one and try feed in between xx

I honestly wouldn’t stress too much, I was thinking the same with my son. He’s 6.5 months now we’ve just started a week or so ago but he’s literally uninterested. Won’t open his mouth at all and when he tastes anything just spits it out so we’re gonna just keep loosely trying, not make it a stressful experience for him, no pressure etc and he’ll be ready at some point I guess!

Yes, my LO close her mouth too:( sometimes I put music to calm down, she really loves music. And try to make shorts meals, around 15 minutes

Did u try sweet potato

Food is fun before they're one! ☺️ have multiple options - chunks of food and puree. Whatever he takes is a win as its all about flavours and textures. Try dancing around and see if that works? I'm a nanny and the things I've had to do to make kids eat is insane 😂 I make an absolute fool out of myself! But milk is still number 1 priority so don't worry too much!

Why is he crying? Maybe try when not hungry and let him play with it? Carrot, avocado and sweet potato worked for us

My baby hated any pures I give him full on solids I found it was a texture thing he loves eating whater we eat I make him his own plate I found the bigger the food the less like they are to choke but it is okey for ur baby not to be ready yet everyone is different

My baby is 7m, and she doesn’t really swallow much, but will try things - BUT only if she has recently had her milk. If I try to feed her solids when she is remotely hungry, she won’t try anything and gets upset. So worth trying giving him the bottle/breast, then try solids immediately after, when he is most chilled and happy. He might just not be ready. Flora wouldn’t touch anything until 6.5 months (adjusted).

She also hates being fed - eg. If you try and put it in her mouth. I either give it to her in her hand, if it’s BLW, or if it’s a puree, I put it on a spoon and give her the spoon. She closes her mouth if you try and put it in. I’ve found the panda ear spoons to be great. Maybe just give him one of them with nothing on to chew, and get used too. Then you can sneak a bit of puree on. Also, with trying cucumber. That’s the first thing Flora ‘ate’.

And toast also a big hit!
