Good idea, I didn't want a Brita as it's been years that my husband wants to install a filter on our tap directly, he is still "looking into it"😅.....but true their us no harm to have limescale, it doesn't come off just not nice to see, we have more as we are using the kettle more often now
I think some people say to soak kettle with lemon juice? Or vinegar, but never tried!
I use vinegar, just give the kettle a few boils with just water afterwards to rid the vinegar from it
Citric acid (it looks like sugar). You put one tablespoon in a cold water filled kettle and boil it as normal and it’ll take off all the limescale. Once it boils, pour out the water and rinse it. I usually do a second plain water boil to ensure there’s no residue. This always works
@Fatema thank you, i tired it and have a "brand new" kettle now😊. So quick with the citric acid
@Marie happy to help. Thank you for writing back, it’s nice to know you have helped someone even if it’s with something small.
You can always filter water in a Brita and use that in the kettle to try to eliminate some of the limescale but living in London it’s unavoidable. It’s not harmful to babies though, it’s just calcium and carbon which are naturally in the body. It just looks bad in the kettle. Use a descaler and a brita to keep it at bay xx
