Group B Strep
Anyone else had Group B Strep found after a vaginal swab?
Had thrush and was treated at the time the swab was taken, all cleared up now but just got a call to say this was found too and to let my midwife know. Google can be a bit scary, so just looking for anyone else’s experience and what it entailed for them, didn’t have this with my first LO at all

They need to be administered atleast 6 hours before delivery or baby has to stay for 5 days to have a course of them
I had it with my first. They advise you have antibiotics via a drip during labour at least 4 hours prior to baby being born. We didn’t get to the hospital in time for the 4 hour time scale. I had them anyway during labour but baby and I had to stay in for 3 nights after he was born so they could monitor him

As worrying as it may seem, it’s always better to know about it in advance so they can have the antibiotics and plan ready x
