I dunno havenāt tried them but i know in my experience, cloth diapers or even just the covers over the disposable, prevents poonamis 100%. They have real elastics at the back and legs, (same ones on our bathers) nothing comes out. Ever. I havenāt cleaned a blowout the whole 2.5yrs he was in diapers, and esp the first 6m he was an EBF baby and had liquidy EBF poop- not even then.
Came to say pretty much the same as @Kellie, never had a blowout with cloth. Cleaning the poo off nappies in a controlled environment at a designated time is MUCH better than cleaning poo off the baby, the car seat, their clothes etc when/where ever it strikes.
Pampers are the only nappies that my baby has poonamiās with. Thereās a pocket on the back of most of them, especially Aldiās. I also find with Pampers after 30 minutes of changing her she smells like wee, Aldiās are definitely my favourite xx
Also similar to Meganās comment the poo has to go somewhere, with Pampers, the poo will go up her belly or down her legs x
@Tricia right? Itās very rare for a cloth mum to get any blowouts! Theyāre amazing. Not to mention super cute haha I got a bit of a cloth obsession there for a few years šš
I hate pampers diapers and hate pampers wipes
It might as well not be there in my opinion. When my little one has an up the back poonami none of it gets trapped on there, it just goes on top of it. Fortunately, he rarely has poonamis.
@Kellie and @Tricia what brand cloth do you use and do you have loadss of nappies? As my LO can do 6 poops in a day sometimes šš i feel like i would be washing forever! I have 2 kit n kin nappies from my eldest but i donāt have any inserts otherwise i would try these straight! The washing has been mental this week!!
@Duvaraka I use Mama Koala from Ama I initially bought 6 packs of their 6 packs (so 36) to start and jumped all in coz I was just a desperate mama trying to help his bum rash at first, I had no plans to use cloth. Thatās enough to prewash daily and main wash on day 3 (thatās when itās a full load) as he got older and used less per day, like 5-6, I was able to main wash on day 4. We wash them daily/2nd day but I donāt dry them daily, they just go into another basket immediately when that basket gets full I rewash them again (called main wash) thatās when I dry them. Clean cloth nappies recommends prewash in 1-2 days and main wash in 3-4 days. I took my baby out every day I just put a pre wash in press play and go, open it in arvo when I get home and then into basket for main wash.
We found the pressure had to go somewhere so even though it didnāt go up his back it went down his legs instead š¤£ no matter how much we fluffed out the elastic bits round the leg it would be nearly at his ankles š«£
