Anemia and gestational diabetes worries

Hey! Has anyone dealt with anemia during pregnancy? I found out this week that my iron is really low and they diagnosed me with anemia. I’m not really sure what this means or how to manage it. They put me on a daily medication and if that doesn’t work then they’ll be doing iron infusions at the hospital. I also failed the 1 hr glucose test. I have my 3 hour one on April 3rd. My glucose levels were very high so I’m very worried that I do in fact have gestational diabetes. Any tips for these 2 issues? I am also high risk due to other medical conditions and have high blood pressure. Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

I was anemic with hypertension, try to watch what you eat and stick to foods high in iron. I also don’t didn’t orange juice with the iron pill because I believe it makes it not work.

Gestational Diabetes isn’t so bad, just had to test your blood sugar 1-2 hours after you eat. Mainly diet based so stay low on carbs! Doctor might make you take a health class for it.

My iron is super low, ferretin came back 7 - it’s been decreasing all pregnancy but they said I have to do iron IV infusions now before giving birth. I have my first one on Friday, they said I should hopefully feel less terrible as well after the infusion because I’ve been dead tired for weeks. I also failed the 1 hour glucose test and it came back super high, I was very worried about the 3 hour one but it came back perfect, all numbers on the low side of normal!

I have very low iron levels through my pregnancy. I was put and iron supplements. My iron level normalized. However, after giving birth it went really low. I had lost a lot of blood. I had to get a blood transfusion. My advice is eat lots of lentils, liver and other food high in iron.

I had to get transfusions during my pregnancy as I was diagnosed with anemia with my first and take the iron pills ate lots of foods high in iron and stayed a bit more active like walks had baby girl and been 2 years I’m more or less still anemic but not so terrible pregnant with number 2 and so far not as anemic as the first
