En caul

My youngest was born vaginally on Easter Day of last year, in his own personal “egg”. It is extremely rare (but not any more dangerous) to still have the amniotic sack intact around the baby, and even more rare for it to contain no water. I wanted to share because it was pretty amazing! Anyone else have an en caul birth or seen one?

38+3 she was born in the sack and my husband broke the water, he likes to joke how he actually birthed her and not me.

Awww man that’s too bad Kim! How many weeks did you deliver at?

My second born was born in his sac as well.

My hubby was a little alarmed but I knew exactly what was around him! Lol. It was a gender surprise too so we didn’t know until it was removed. See where it’s hand is....

Wow!! How cool is that! Thank you for sharing! I’ve never seen that before. It’s amazing seeing how our little ones spent there 9 months.

Isn’t it though! I appreciate you stopping to comment

My daughter was just born in her sack 2 weeks ago but we didn’t get a pic

That’s a shame!

They use to dry the sack and make a purse out of it for sailors. It was considered good luck and would keep the sailor safe. Called a mermaids purse.

My youngest nephew was coming out with his sac. But I think it still had some fluid in it. The doctor wouldn't let him come out with it on so she broke it. She didn't want the fluid to bust on her...her words. It was on a Naval base. And that doctor was a B. I wish I could have seen this.

Interesting story. This little man came out in one push (4 lbs premie )

Appreciate it :)

My second was born in her sac, still with waters in though... How do waters get out of the sac is intact?

My water had a leak at 36 weeks- wasn’t sure if it was leaking urine lol Looking back, I assume the rip was higher up and Maybe it resealed during labor? I’ll never know

This is so beautiful

Omg amazing!

Yes it really is!!! Thanks Mary

Mine almost was! My water had to be broken by the nurses 30 minutes into pushing. I always regretted not having a picture as I'm super curious what it was like to push and see the sac instead.

Charis a lot of times they pop the water to speed labor. Maybe that’s why they did so

They actually kind of did it on accident! They were saying my water hadn't fully broken and the sac was pretty thick, so much so that they didn't think it would pop with a pinch. She even started to demonstrate, but then there was a HUGE gush. She was like "oh huh I didn't expect that"

That is amazing; how magical! 🤩

Awwww thanks Amy!!!

Wow! Amazing! Did they have you go in labor because of the leak, they did with me.

Thanks roZ!!!! Yes I went to the hospital.

I have delivered many with intact membranes but never with no liquor around. Very interesting, great you got a picture! Xx

Thanks holly!!! Yea I believe my rip was closer to the top and perhaps it resealed in labor?

Possibly. But for the membranes not to slide off as he is delivered is amazing! Xx

Thank Emma Claire

My 14 week miscarriage was born in sac! I chose to be induced and not D&C for personal reasons and she was so tiny fully formed. Would post pic but some people don't like to see that.

Sorry Tiffany for your loss!!!

Thanks love!

This is amazing! When I had my daughter at 35 weeks the doctor on call got so excited that this might happen. Then I had to tell her my water broke 10 minutes before we got there in the ambulance ☹ we were both bummed.

Totally! That means so much mama

Never let anyone tell you that you're less than a goddess mama✨ absolutely amazing 🥰

I just gave birth to my son en caul! Sac was fully in tact, but far more transparent than your photo. We had a homebirth so my husband caught him in the sac and lowered him down to the bed where he burst out on his own!
