Starting at 20 weeks you should avoid laying on your back, try sleeping on your left side—it will allow for your uterus to be shaped like a hammock to help baby to get in the optimal fetal position :)

@Andrea I believe this is an outdated recommendation. I was told by my doctor that laying on your back during pregnancy will become uncomfortable before it becomes harmful
Thats not strange at all, thats all baby its lovely ❤

Yh i thought that cos in scan she looks cramped and hardly no fluid they couldnt even measure her head to foot cos she couldnt stretch but ive never had this in any of my other pregnancy
Completely normal, I’m naturally very small and each of my pregnancies my baby sticks out like that.
Oh really yh i lost alot of weight before falling pregnant and with all my others i was big before i fell with them so probs thats why but im gonna speak to my midwife tomorrow

Yup! Each of my pregnancies my starting weight has been around 110 but any worries once so ever I’d always suggest talking to a midwife or OB just to calm the nerves. ☺️
Yh gonna speak to them tomorrow
Mines did this too ! I was skinny when I was pregnant I was barley 120 and when I would lay on my back my belly always looked this way. I tried to find a picture but I don’t have any😫

Awwwww yh i lost alot so i thought it could be that wheres as all my other pregnancy i was big before apart from my first but that was nearly 16 years ago so i dont remember lol im glad im not the only one tho i thought something was wrong. Still might talk toy midwife tho
Sometimes when I wake up the baby is in a ball on one side of my stomach where i'd been laying on my side and it looks kinda like this but not as prominent. Freaked me out at first but as soon as I stand up she must stretch out and stretches into all the free space 😅 X
Yh it goes once i move or get up but its the freakest thing ive ever seen even my other children find it weird lol. Im just worried its not normal altho alot of you ladys say you get it to
It looks like you have low fluid (amniotic fluid).
Is that a bad think

It can be, yes. Have you been leaking fluid? Idk I would get checked if you’re having concerns.
Literally a baby bump I see no issues your belly is still small

Have you consulted with a OB

Not yet tomorrow i am
It's the baby..
Best to get it checked out. May be nothing but better than worrying about it.
@Sarah I wasn’t saying it was harmful. I was just saying laying on your side will allow baby to move more freely to get in the ROA/LOA position that’s best for birth. My midwives told me there is no harm in laying on your back—just that baby will be forced to be in the OP position, same with reclining anywhere.
Yeah until about 27-28 weeks or so, I always said I looked like a yellow squash lmao. Eventually my uterus started pressing on my stomach/diaphragm and it rounded out a bit

Thank you so much ladys youve all been so helpful i wish you all the best
I'm glad I'm not the only one with a wierd belly lol when I stand up and I'm in maternity pants, I look like I have a full and healthy large bump. When I'm at home in pj's or something comfy, my bump is gone and it just looks like a blob of excess skin that falls around my waist lol with my first pregnancy I was able to suck in my bump and not look pregnant at all up to 8 months! Really freaked people out, don't know where my son went but it was funny lol

Omg yes im the same i say i aint pregnant thats just food lol but my bump is perfect when im dressed. Very weird
My belly does this when I go to lie down in bed or in the bath. Also happens when I go to get up as well. I always thought it was because my stomach muscles were ruined from my first pregnancy so I don't have the muscle support there anymore.

Its crazy that after so many pregnancies its the first time its happening but obviously its normal if alot of the ladys get it to
I’m no doctor but maybe diastasis recti? I think you’re supposed to limit the movements that cause it (like laying down and raising yourself up with your abdominals). Worth a question to the doc about looking after it, apparently some women continue to have issues with it after birth but it’s very common during pregnancy.

Yh need to contact my midwife
I hope it is normal and baby just sticking bumb out but i dont think it is at the stage and my midwifes aint being helpful at all

Would you try see a womens physio? I'm sure its absolutely fine though but id bet my life a good physio will advise
It look like baby is sticking his / her bum up in the air
It looks like diastatsis recti to me. It’s where your six pack muscles stretch and separate, and then the tissue in between stretches too. So when you sit up like that, the pressure causes the weakened / stretched tissue to bulge. I’m very familiar having had it with my twins.
I think maybe you need more water and also some bumps are oddly shaped. Mine for example is what you call B-shaped even though I have never been overweight in my life and I try to be active.
Mine does that when I’m trying to get up. Looks really strange. I had a csection with my first and the surgeon said from my first child my muscles never healed back properly. Nothing wrong with it. I have a fattie hernia and if I decide to get surgery. He will have to go in and manually pull my muscles back together.

Oh thats sounds scary not sure i would do it tbh if its not causing me any problems i aint messing with it but hope your ok
Yeah I am fine. I had it for 9 years and didn’t know it. My hernia started bothering me that’s the only reason I knew all of that. But ask your doctor. May just go back after the baby. Just have to do some workouts probably.
Thanks il defo speak to someone
