Greece is beautiful. We went a few years back. We went to Hawai’i for our baby moon and loved it.
I went to Athens, Mykonos and Santorini while 10-11 weeks pregnant. I had some rough first trimester moments, but otherwise really enjoyed myself! We booked the trip before we knew I’d be pregnant, so we didn’t do some things we would normally do like a caldera hike or sunset cruise but if you’re going in your second or third trimester you can probably at least do something like a sunset cruise. There will probably be lots of crowds for the time of year you’re thinking of - we ended up doing a lot of early morning walks to beat the crowds. If you’re planning to do a couple of the islands, keep in mind that only some parts of the islands will have beaches. For example, Perissa in Santorini has beaches but Oia, where the blue domes are, does not.
Depends how far along you are! Went to greece this past summer and its def crowded and busy. I would recommend Paros or a more low key island. Or staying further from the center of town at a resort. I do recommend it as a trip to do before kids, but also keep in mind travel and jet lag.
Oooo. If you can go during your second trimester, I definitely recommend. My first trimester was so rough. My third trimester I’m feeling so unbelievably tired. I am so glad we went for our second trimester. I had the most energy and mobility and I felt my best.
Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions so far! I will be 20 weeks along for the time we’re thinking
Santorini would be a great place to relax, as long as you can navigate the hills. Athens, Crete, and Olympia we're incredible too but that would be too much walking for me while pregnant! Sicily might be a good option too, if you're open to Italy!
@Stefania omg that’s such a sweet offer! Thank you! Sending you a PM 💕
@Cristina I agree- I love Greece but would be tricky for a babyMoon because it’s so much walking and steps. Maybe if you didn’t do Santorini and did somewhere like Crete I think it would be more doable. If you do go, I would suggest a resort or Airbnb you absolutely love that has everything you want to go to or eat at close by.
I fell in love with Greece. We made several stops and though i agree with everyone here about the endless walking, hills, steps etc. i highly recommend Santorini (we stayed in Oia) i felt the walking to not be as difficult or as much as our other stops. the sunset cruise on a catamaran is a must and i would still do it even if i was pregnant at the time. It was very relaxing and beautiful. And i also recommend Milos or Paros like someone else mentioned. Milos was also very relaxing and beautiful. Most of the touristy places are accessible by car, breathtaking views and not nearly as crowded as all our other stops especially if you get an early start to your day. Hope this helps. Have fun!!
If you’re keen on a less busy / chiller vibe I’d recommend Hydra in Greece it is the only island with no cars, easy to walk, incredible water, great food and only one hour ferry from Athens which is incredible
Greece is absolutely beautiful and I do recommend it. Now keep in mind, there is a lot of walking and everything is on a hill so depending on how far along you will be, I would keep that in mind. It could be exhausting. If you do go, I highly recommend a sunset catamaran, an amazing experience! Food is also delicious over there.
