Can you feel your baby’s ribs?

i can feel every single rib and her hip bones, her belly isn’t sticking out when she lies down anymore like when she was smaller. so just wondering if that’s normal? she’s 17lbs and 6 months so she’s not skinny but she’s on the smaller side of the spectrum

Sometimes babies grow faster long ways, so the baby fat has a hard time keeping up. At least that’s what I observed with my first baby. She was small, but no red flags.

@Tiffany she is pretty tall and she is crawling so that might be part of it also? i just didn’t know if i should be concerned

No I cannot, my LO is very chunky, mine weighs 27 pounds 🥴 but all babies are different. She looks very healthy and normal to me, if her pediatrician isn’t concerned then she is fine

Yes I can at 18 pounds

Yes, I can. Mine is about 16 lbs at 7 months. The doctor always said she’s gaining weight beautifully and she’d doubled her weight by 6 months on schedule. She wears 3-6 month clothes. Didn’t think it was noticeable/ odd to feel her ribs lol. Her body looks kind of like hers haha.

i wouldn't be concerned if the doctors not. my baby is only about 16 pounds and almost 8 months. my baby is long though, she's like 26 inches now? idk but i can feel her ribs too but she eats a ton and has since she was 4 months and on

If your doctor is not worried, then I wouldn’t worry either! My 7 month old is also on the smaller side. Our ped said she mostly looks for chunky cheeks and thighs. No need to worry as long as she stays on the growth curve!
