It it okay to use hydrocortisone cream during pregnancy ?

My nipples have been super itchy & a fellow momma friend of mine recommended the product for me to use. However now that I’m Googling it, it says to consult a doctor or to find alternatives - since hydrocortisone is a steroid it is not safe for baby. Is this true or will I be fine with moderate amounts?

If you can fine the 0.5 may be better

I used it! Mother in law is a dermatologist and said the OTC stuff is fine. It’s the higher doses you have to be careful with but for what it’s worth it’s also prescribed sometimes even in pregnancy for really bad rashes!

I also had SUPER itchy nipples in my second trimester. It was a symptom that didn’t seem that common but it was excruciating. To be honest hydrocortisone didn’t seem to help me. Nothing really did. I did try anti itch cream made for vaginal use and otherwise a heavy cream like skin food by Weleda. After a few weeks it got better. I hope yours goes away too!

Cocunut oil works very well too and shea butter

I had too use it, had poison ivy all over my abdomen!!!! Couldn’t get the cortisone shot cause I was pregnant. …My doc said use with caution… If it’s just your nipples that are itchy maybe try breastfeeding creams and ointments.

I also had weird itchiness flare up! Another cream to try is Sarna. I got the ok to use is as much as needed (and I used A LOT)
