How to dress baby at night/cellular blankets

I’m finding it difficult to work out what to dress baby in for sleep depending on the temp. All the charts show sleeping bags but baby is a little small for hers yet so we’ve been using cellular blankets. Our room is currently showing as 21.8 and will probably drop a little over night. I’ve dressed her in just a sleep suit and going to use just 1 layer of cellular blanket… is this ok do we think?!

I have the same trouble, it gets chilly in the mornings & I think that wakes her but I’m scared to put a blanket on her because of so many safe sleep comments I saw on TikTok!! It’s all very annoying

I have the same issue. I’ve just been putting her in a vest and babygrow with a cellular blanket on top even though she’s usually kicked it off by morning I just make sure it’s tucked in well and her feet touch the end of her next to me

My little boy is 3 weeks old and we have rubbish underfloor heating, our room drops to about 18 at night. We do a vest, baby grow and socks (he gets cold feet) and swaddled in a cellular blanket. My health visitor said its better for them to get cold than hot. We feel his chest regularly xx

My room is between 18 and 19 and my baby is wearing a vest, sleepsuit, swaddle sleeping bag and sometimes a blanket. She has never woken up clammy or really warm so it seems to work for us.

My room is 19.2. He’s wearing a long sleeve vest & 2.5 tog sleep bag. I use the tommee tippee one where you can swaddle or arms out. He has his arms out as he’s a fidget.

My room is around 21 degrees and we are the same with not knowing what to dress baby in. Last night we did a vest, babygrow and cellular blanket but tonight we are dropping the vest based on guidelines…she isn’t too hot though so I’m unsure what’s best?? So hard to know

My room is 22 degrees and we are dressing him in a long sleeved babygrow with no vest and a 1.5 tog sleeping bag. He runs quite warm 🥰

Thanks everyone! We went for baby gro and 1 layer of cellular blanket tucked in which seemed to work well. She also kicked off the blanket about halfway through the night too but I think this was her fidgetting rather than being too warm

I have a 2.5t swaddle and she loves it. Baby grow on her and she sleeps so well

We use sleeping bags for this reason, it’s so much easier to figure out what to put them in. Our room is between 18-20 most of the time so use a 2.5 tog with a long sleeve baby grow.

Best advice I was given was an extra layer to what we have. I'm still sleeping with duvet on (fan and window open as we are in dormer bungalow so gets very hot upstairs) Baby is in vest, sleepsuit, swaddled in cellular and then a cellular blanket placed on top. She sleeps fine and wakes every 3hrs for feeds zx

@Katie how did it go last night? We dropped the vest too but not sure whether to put it back on tonight.

@Sarah it was fine. The temp was 22 and we just did a baby grow and a cellular blanket. The health visitor came today and she said even a babygrow and large muslin tucked in would be perfect too for that temperature xx
