According to the GDPR children have the same rights as adults in regard to what is shared about them online. A childs consent age for online is only 13 here in the UK, dependent on how mature & capable the child is. Also children are equally covered under the equality act & the data protection act. I do not share photographs of my child publicly. I made a close friends group and share stories that disappear on IG on rare occasion
Everything we share on the Internet is at risk. If parents wish to expose their children to that risk then thats on them. But it's actually not against anyone's human right to share an image of someone online, even children unless its an indecent image. It is to share information but again some parents will be tagging their children everywhere at locations and photos in the bath and in school uniforms like one you the parent post that photo. It belongs to the world and people don't realise that and THATS scary. I cant safely say my children do not have a large online footprint- because as a parent it's my job to safeguard them from that exposure.
