Really not recommended for anything other than milk until 6 months unless a doctor has advised otherwise. Definitely not 14 weeks!

Ok thank you, on the packets it says 4-6 months for baby rice and porridge. I'll ask at her jabs next week. X

No solids until around 6 months old unless advised different by a professional for medical reasons. Literally zero benefit, only potential risks.

So apparently the advice changed from what my HV said its 6 months again but with my daughter, I started giving her baby rice at 5 1/2 months she was showing lots of interest in my food and was sitting up so I went off that.

@Em yeah that is confusing but then those companies make more money off people weaning early so they don’t care! 😂 definitely check with your doctor.

Why do you want to start giving 'solids' to your baby?

@Daphne my husband has suggested it, we brought them last night to have in ready and it says 4-6 months so wad just wondering really.

@Em oh okay. There really isn't any need to give solids this early unless advised otherwise by a pediatrician. If you read in to it, you'll actually find that starting solids too early can actually do more harm than good. So it might be worth researching introducing solids before 6 months :).

No not at all. Not until after 6 months

Baby led weaning is 6months but it is safe to wean from 17 weeks (4months) but this is usually everything pureed. Advice was BLW at 6months when I had my son 9yrs ago so it hasn't changed in a long time. But I weaned at 17 weeks with him as he was refluxy. I had discussed this with my hv and told her that's what I was doing. He could hold his head steady and remain seated. And surprisingly he didn't spit it back out. I started with pureed fruits. Our LG is 13weeks and has cmpa so will probably leave til BLW at 6 months this time. Do what you believe is right for your baby but 17weeks is the absolute earliest and be sure to discuss with hv x

Hey, same here, recommendation is to feed milk till at least 6 mo. Some parents decided to introduce solids at 4mo, but nhs doesn't recommend it unless health driven x

Also baby rice isn't recommended to give at all. https://www.kidspot.com.au/lifestyle/family-health/why-a-paediatric-nutritionist-advises-against-baby-rice-cereal/news-story/ae57a1c920707220549a8bc74587bee0 Maybe have a read of this article

@Nikky professionals just go off books? 🙈 or maybe they go off the latest scientific research and studies?

@Nikky and who writes the books?

Although it’s nhs recommended, it’s also guidelines. I was weaned as a child at 3months old, which was guidance at the time - 32 years ago…. I weaned my eldest son at 4mths which was 2 years ago! I just started on purées and baby porridge and rice. Then 5mths i introduced chunkier foods and then 6mths, I started BLW…. It’s what you feel is right with your baby! But as others have said, guidelines suggest to wait til 6mths

We’ve recently started seeing a dietician and I spoke about weaning. She said you really shouldn’t do anything before 17 weeks at the very earliest, they wouldn’t advise that though and would recommend at least 6 months :)

I have started it the doctor recommended it as my lo won’t drink enough milk. I got the hipp organic one it’s 4 month + and you just mix the powder with her regular bottle.
