pros & cons of living in Leicester!

hi! my partner and I are in the next year or so looking to settle down in a place of our own with my baby boy, and we want to move somewhere sort of in the middle of both our families - Leicester is proving to be a good shout and somewhere we've considered. just wondering what people who live there have to say about different areas. LB will be 18 months by the time we move so I'll have to start thinking about nurseries, if anyone has any comments on that, and just advice on nice areas for a family to grow up in thanks mumma's! Xx

I moved out of Leicester when my daughter was 4 months old and never looked back. I lived in Leicester from birth till i had kids wanted better for them. Leicestershire Is much nicer. Better schools also.

We are Leicestershire ! Lots of lovely villages with good access to shops and busier areas too xxx

@Alice what's the affordability like in the area you live for renting? xxx

Leicester city centre is a shithole but there are some lovely villages in Leicestershire! I’d definitely say do your research and you can also check the crime rates in each area too. I used to live nearish the city centre and now in a village out in the sticks and I love being out in the country x

I can recommend Narborough! We are living on the Pastures Estate and have everything we need. Can get into Leicester centre in 20 mins but we have rarely been in as we have Fosse Park retail shopping 5 mins drive away. We also have a number of nurseries around us as well as 2 primary schools within walking distance.. It's also super easy to get onto the M1 for travelling elsewhere in the country x

Would agree with other saying the villages in Leicestershire can be lovely but I know it’s hard to know which places are rough and not without knowing them x

I love Leicester. We live in the city but agree re schools and are saving to move to a house in the county in a few years so our daughter can settle somewhere ahead of secondary (we have a fairly decent primary nearby). There's plenty to do around and about and there's lots of festivals etc throughout the year to visit too
