@Kat this is what I thought but someone said it more likely to make baby ill with the water being so sterilise for her. If she was to come in contact with bacteria and germs her body/immune system would be more sensitive
I don't think you will have caused any issues for your bub. In theory the filter in the machine works to have the same effect as boiling and cooling water anyway so it would just have been re-sterilsed rather than extra sterilised x
It’s not that you could encourage bacteria by using already boiled water it’s that when you boil water you remove some of the minerals/metals etc that are in the water. By then boiling/filtering again you further remove more of these but water naturally seeks them out. So can then take them from your body when consumed. Nobody should drink purified or distilled water really because of this. Sorry water geek because I work for a veterinary company and my biggest produce is out distilled water 😂🙈 however because you are adding formula you will be adding some of these things back in anyway so I wouldn’t have thought you are doing anything harmful however it’s made just not the most ideal thing to do
It's fine, one of the problems with prep machines is that people don't change the filter enough so you've avoided that problem! Boiling water actually concentrates some minerals while the filter would then remove them so overall it makes no difference. You can save yourself some time from now on though!
I used water from the tap when I was first home and my hv told me not to. She said to cool boiled water in the fridge and use from there . She said would you like to drink luke warm water that's been sat in a tank all day ? No so neither would your baby 🙈. So I've just always done it this way now but tbh I'm not really sure it makes a difference that's the whole point of the filter I would of said.
You could look in to what's in our tap water supply in your area. And maybe buy some bottled water to use. 👍
Some machines use tap water and others use boiled. This is because the tommee tippee for example has a built in filter so it still filters the water (and you have to replace the filters) The baby brezza (I have this) does not filter the water so I boil the water before putting it in the tank. Hope this helps!
Babies are pretty resilient, if they aren't already, yours will be putting everything and anything in their mouths pretty soon and there's no way everything can be sterile or even washed to be honest...we just have to do our best and God will do the rest! 😹 Ps one of my twins grabbed a fistful of my hair and attempted to pull/eat it today. As well as pain, my first thought was did I put leave in conditioner in my hair, did I spray it before styling this morning, what if there's still a little pre straightening oil in there still 👀 I thought of this for all of about 5 seconds because then he decided to try and eat my nose and had me concerned about which moisturiser I'd used instead.... 🫣
I use already filtered water, I have a brita jug thing, the water from my tap is rank and baby boy ain’t had any problems
My LO is EBF so I'm not sure how the prep machines work...but there's nothing wrong with using the cooled boiled water! If anything it's probably slightly safer, as long as it's newly boiled water each time 🙂
