Washing before arrival…

I’ve finally hung all of babies clothes up and realised I’ve got so much and I’m so excited! In terms of washing everything before the baby comes is it literally everything you wash? Clothes and mattress covers of course but what about Muslins, blankets etc? When do you think is best to start washing them? What is everyone using to wash their baby bits? Thank you! 🩵

Iv washed his sleeping suits blankets socks mits, but other outfits I haven’t x

I'll be washing everything to make sure anything from the shops and transport is removed. Including muslins and blankets. Will just be using a non-bio washing tablet or gel.

ive washed all my muslins ive heard its a must because its like not washing a towel they don’t work as well when they haven’t been washed! i washed most stuff before 30 weeks very glad i did because i struggle to hang everything out on the line now as its a bit of a stretch. i use fairy non bio pods but i know a lot of people dont like pods. and fairy fabric conditioner. just use whichever laundry detergent you usually use but switch to non bio! x

Thank you ladies 🥰💖

I’ve washed everything including muslin & blankets. I’ve realised I’ve got a lot of vests but hardly any sleepsuits xx

I washed everything already 3 to 6months clothes are still unwashed as I won't be using those in 3 to 4 months so I got time to wash those. Always used non bio fairy for baby clothes, all our clothes 🙂 it's never late to wash, I washed everything, blankets, socks, bibs, Muslims, cot sheets, mattress protectors, hats, sleepsuits, vests, trousers etc, even nursing pillow and it's cover. Because there is just way too much stuff on new items as we don't know where those been.

I’ve washed everything already and it’s all ready to go I use non-bio concentrated liquid But know with reuseable nappies I need to use non-bio powder

@Harriet hey i will be using reusable nappies with my august baby too! which nappies have you gone for? x

Aww it’s so exciting isn’t it! I think I did all of mine around 36 weeks and I’ve done everything. All clothes up to 0-3, muslins, blankets, towels, bedding etc x

I only intended to wash all 0-3 months, muslins, blankets and sheets. But ended up doing everything just because of the smell of the fairy non-bio we used, I just want to smell it all over the house hahaha 🙈❤️x

Muslins, blankets, wash it all. I use Fairy non bio

I'm due in 2 weeks and we've washed everything down to muslins and bibs just in case

Don't use fabric conditioner for anything you want to stay absorbant (towels, cloth nappies, muslins). The substance that makes fabrics feel "softer" blocks the absorbancy.

I washed everything xx

Washing literally everything is the best I think. Better safe than sorry 🙂

I've washed everything that will touch her skin. Fabrics go through factories and can go through many hands before they arrive to our homes and make contact with our newborns. You can just never know where they've been... Midwives recommend non-bio for the first few weeks, especially if you personally have sensitive skin, as sensitivity is something a baby can inherit. You can switch over to your normal detergent 😀 Emma's Diary give away fairy non-bio samples and I got enough to wash everything! X

@ellie 🤍 I have 2nd hand mio bambino ones I also got a starter pack free though our local council scheme which is little lambs and a few different brands, I’m looking forward to trying them all One tip I read was don’t make it too tight around the legs as it causes leaks which I would have never known about What brands have you gone for? X

You’ve all been so helpful, thank you! Hope this helps other mums too ☺️💖

I washed everything with my son, never at all with my daughter. It’s draining 😂

You can do it at any point, because there’s no such thing as a stale wash. Wash everything because anything with the store starch is gonna be too tough on baby skin. I just use our same gentle skin detergent that we use for my husband and I who both suffer from eczema. I learned that some baby detergents like dreft are actually really harsh on skin, especially baby skin.

I’ve washed absolutely everything Including Muslin clothes and blankets . I am 35 weeks pregnant today . I’m glad I did it earlier as with this weather in the uk it’s hard to hang things out on the line without catching the rain xx

This is too cute. I can't wait for mine.🥰

Same, washed everything!

I washed everything too in non bio asda brand its cheap and it makes the clothes smell lovely and you don't need much btw where did you get your wardrobe from? It's lovely! ☺️

I washed literally everything my baby was going to use, clothes, blankets, wraps, cloth nappies etc

@Samantha hey, what size was your son? Going straight into 0-3 months? We didn’t bother buying any newborn as I believe it’s only up to 9lb, but we bought a few ‘up to 1 month size and mainly 0-3 - just hope it’s not all too big - very hard to get it right x I’m sure it all shrinks slightly in the wash too x

@Nisa ❤ thank you 💖 I got this set! https://www.babyandchildstore.com/shop/nursery/furniture/cot-beds/obaby-nika-4-piece-nursery-room-set-grey-wash/ xx
