Why do you need a nickname? No judgement just genuinely curious. Everyone seems to try and come up with a nickname for their child before they're born these days. I don't understand why you would pick a name you love just to never use it?

My cousin is Imani and we call her Moni or Monay (pronounced mow-nay)

@Laura my child is already born she’s almost a year,,, and why do you think a nickname means their original name would be forgotten??? at least we won’t. i can’t speak for others but in my defense, we love her name and will still use it, way more than if she was to have a nickname, especially since we’ve already been calling her her name for so long it’s pretty much engraved in our brains. it will not replace her name. it’s all fun and for “sometimes” purposes.

Fair enough! I was just genuinely curious. My name is similar in that there's not much you can do with it and I've always just been known as Laura, no one has ever tried to get creative and come up with something else just for the sake of having a nickname. Hope you find one you like 😊

@Laura no i completely understand where you’re coming from though. my mom gave me a nickname from the beginning due to my name being complicating to pronounce and now nobody calls me my real name upto this very day, like literally nobody. meanwhile i’d very much rather be called it. i hate my nickname so much and everyone is so used to saying it
