Omeprazole

Hey! I give my LO 1.25ml once daily half hour before a feed. I don’t have a specific time as I was never told one but I tend to give it around 4pm.

I was told by my doctor to cut the tablet in half (10mg tablet) and give my baby that. My baby was about 5 weeks old at the time. She is now 4 months and she is still taking the same dose and is to continue until she gets to 6 months and start weaning or it's not working anymore but check this on the BNF that is the prescription bible. We’re on 5ml of liquid omeprazole. We were originally told once a day 30 minutes before milk but we now split it in two as it’s such a high dose in one go and DR was fine with this.

We do 5mg a day (half a tablet) first thing in a morning 30 mins before a feed. With mix it with cool boiled water. @Natalie @M Taylor @Kirsty has your LOs reduced mill intake from it? I feel she's dropped her feeds a bit since being on it! X

Depends on their weight and strength of the prescription. We're doing 3.75ml once a day but out new prescription is 7.5ml once a day as it's half the strength

@Charlie Gibson no, she didn't reduce her milk intake! Her intake increased as she wasn't in discomfort and pain anymore. How long has your baby been taking it? I give my baby hers at midday and during her feed. I used to give it to her in the mornings before her morning feed but since a few weeks ago, she has been refusing it, so now I have to trick her 🙄

I was told to give 3.5ml but that was wearing off quickly so was told to give 5ml before the first feed of the day. It just doesn’t seem to he working. Infant gavin on isn’t working well enough either. Idk what else to do 🤯

@M Taylor she's been taking it for about a month? Wasn't sure if the cool boiled water was putting her feed off but it's only a syringe worth 🤣. We moved to comfort milk at the same time too, so I'm not sure whether it could be that. Tempted to wean off comfort milk but worried we'll go back to where we were a month ago 😣

@Charlie Gibson no I wouldn’t say he’s having less milk. Tbh I don’t think it’s doing anything; not sure if the dose needs upping as he’s still just in as much pain x

@Charlie Gibson is she gaining weight? I don't know how you mix yours but when my baby was constipated due to gaviscon (6 sachets a day) I gave her half a tablet in 10 mls of cool boiled water. Then she stopped taking the 10mls so I dropped it to 5mls and still half a tablet. Now I am back to 10mls because its hot and she is taking it. I play about with the mls as the dose is the same, just a bit more water in it (dr and HV said its okay). If she is gaining weight fine then she may be dropping her feeds (it's natural) if she is not then you can consider changing the brand of milk (I had to change it as it gave my baby terrible constipation)

So she's dropped slightly in weight but the HV said she's okay with thr drop due to this age range using body/legs more so burning it off and she's put me in for a new weight check in 2 weeks. She's on the 5th centile. We dissolve the tablet in boiling water and once dissolved/cooled, syringe it in to a 5ml syringe. It doesn't dissolve well so when we tried a teat bits just got stuck in it! Mind it does the trick with her reflux so it could be the comfort milk 🤷‍♀️🙈. May intro 1 normal aptamil feed in to her routine and check in every few days and go from there. X
