I’m 38 weeks and booked to have my baby girl there, I have been with the hospital since I was 29 weeks the midwives and nurses are fantastic in the antenatal clinic and in the delivery suite department. I have always had my questions answered and been made to feel welcomed and cared for. I transferred from Kingston as they made me feel uncomfortable to have my care there. Each to their own but I wouldn’t worry personally, I hope my experience has eased your worry.
I think every experience is different tbf. I have had a terrible experience with St Heliers in the past with my partner and wouldn't trust them to run a bath so having a baby there was not an option. I myself was born at St George's and it's where I'm having my baby x
Thanks ladies it’s hard to decide as everyone had mixed views!
St George's is where I've chosen to give birth, everything was amazing, the staff is great, good conditions in the ward. I cannot recommend them enough. I've had elective c-section, however my water broke before my appointment and they have respected my choice of having c-section. I had a panic attack just before the spine injection and the staff has been amazing in handling a crazy mama that wanted to run in fear 😂 so, I don't really know if something changes since 2021 or why this bad report, but from experience they have been great!
And just to add, my pregnancy was high risk, I've had almost every week appointments and the baby was monitorised, I've been seen every single time I thought is something wrong (baby wasn't moving as usual or all sorts of fears) and they advised every single time to come back if I have concerns. At every scan they have explained their concerns and how to proceed further. 😊 I now have a healthy almost 2 years old thanks to them.
I gave birth at St George’s and had an amazing experience throughout labour and post delivery! My midwife was an angel. I can’t complain about anything. This was summer 2020, during Covid. I don’t know now..
Midwives there are amazing The whole midwifery dept is outstanding. But the sonography and consultant depts are a different story unfortunately. I had a terrible experience there unfortunately :/. Best of luck with whichever hospital you decide on! Xx
All my babies born at st georges... I've moved away now and live at least 50 minutes away and still choosing st georges to have this baby. Wouldn't go no where else, yes under pressure tell me somewhere Nhs funded that isn't! Maternity services all strained but every midwife I've met wants to care for women. Everyone has different expectations but as long as you recognize appointments hardly ever on time and departments are busy then your prepared.
@Otilia this is really helpful, thank you for sharing
@Kate Hunter thanks for this, it really has made me felt reassured. Good luck with your next one 💜
