Best nappy cream

My 10 day old has a bit of a rash starting on his bum and it’s sore for him :( what’s the best nappy rash cream? We’ve used sudocrem and I have also put him some of my earlier breast milk (transitional milk) on it to soothe but just wondered if anyone had any recommendations? I am going to bathe his bum in warm water and some spare colostrum I have and cotton wool and we’ve been told to use metanium but if anyone has anything better?! If it isn’t looking like it’s getting better tomorrow then going to take him to docs x

Use whatever thick cream you have. I would not wipe baby after every diaper change, just the pooped diapers. Over wiping can worsen a rash. I use a diaper balm to prevent rashes, since it’s easier to take off than the cream.

The yellow metanium works really well for us! And try a bit of ‘nappy off’ time lying on a towel after bath if you can x

Aquaphor works miracles

Definitely use Metanium (the yellow tube is the treatment for current nappy rash, the white one is just a barrier cream). It works miracles. Use a very thin layer at each change and it’ll start to improve so quickly. Avoid wipes (even ones which claim they’re mainly water), they are still harsh on newborn skin. Stick to warm water and cotton wool. We use wipes now since he was about 5/6 months, but before then his skin was too sensitive. Nappy free time too! 10/15 mins a few times a day to let it breathe. And just make sure to check nappy really often and change whenever he poops. For my boy that was like every 2 hours as a newborn 😩 we had to change so regularly or he’d get sore. Honestly, I’d throw every other cream out, and stick to Metanium! I don’t know what’s in that stuff, but it works!! Hope it clears up soon

Use metanium, it’s been recommended by the midwife and actually works for rashes! Sudocrem for every poo and wee your baby has!

Bepanthen worked for my little one and she's never had rashes ever since. Also, make sure the affected areas are dry as well post clean up. 😊

I tried them all when my LO had a rash that ended up with his skin breaking and even the steroid cream the dr gave didn’t work so I personally went the natural way. Made camomile tea and used it to clean his bum instead of wipes - when there’s a rash you pat not wipe 😊 AND leave him without a nappy as much as you can, the fresh air does miracles ☺️

Leave the nap off for a good length of time as much as u can caldesene got rid of the rash in a day and bepanthen prevented it from coming back

Definitely metanium and as mentioned leave nappy off as much as you can 🙂 make sure his bum is really dry before you put a new nappy on, so pat dry really well with a towel If you are changing them alot and they are doing ALOT of poos then speak to doctor or health visitor. My little one had terrible nappy rash and was going 10 times an hour sometimes. Turns out he has cows milk protein allergy 🙃

Vaseline worked the best for us! I found sundocrem and bepanthen didn’t do much! X

I’ve used bepathem on every single change since she was born and no sign of a rash or even slight red ever!

Avoid anything with BHA BHT Paraffin or petrolatum in - all bad for the skin, some are carcinogen potential and you’re putting in on LO most sensitive area - sadly sudocrem and many other brands contain these. I use boots own nappy cream - no nasties in it. It works well for our little girl. You can check ingredients on an App called Yuka which I highly recommend. If helps me make better choices for lots of things x
