Yes, my baby has the same dent but on both sides of her temples. Just the shape of their heads, nothing to worry about! X
@Kysha thank you so much! That puts my mind at ease! X
Is there a vein running down it? My little boy has dents either side which have his veins running down so I’m assumed it was normal 😬 x
Most likely Just a shape of LOs head x
When they’re born they’re skull is shaped in a way that easily fits through the birth canal and as they grow it slowly shifts into the right place. My daughters head was like this on both sides as a newborn and we asked the doctor who told me about how their skulls move! So no need to worry at all it will be normal in a few week
It kind of looks like babies head could be shifting to one side. So maybe try having them turn the head to the other side. During tummy time or feedings
When your baby is born, their brain is growing at a really fast rate, so the plates that make up their skull are soft and free-floating to accommodate it. Over time, these plates harden and join up, but right now they are still soft and you can see/feel the seams where the plates join. I would still mention it at her appt but unless she’s exhibiting any symptoms, I don’t think it’s anything to worry about. Was she a forceps baby by any chance? https://www.mountsinai.org/health-library/special-topic/cranial-sutures#:~:text=Fontanelles%20are%20the%20soft%20spots,and%20back%20of%20the%20head.
My baby girl is 15 months now she has had a dent on the side of her head since she was born I am going to get it checked again coz it’s still there. She was a forceps delivery. Do I need to worry?
@Natalie when I booked her 8 week appointment, I mentioned it then and they said as long as she is eating and having wet nappies, she’s okay and will check it on that appointment. Just wanted to see if anyone has has the same thing
