Hey! I live in Gloucester, 5/10 minute drive from the centre, not too far from Hempstead either. I wouldn’t say it’s an amazing place, we commonly say it’s a shit hole when you’ve grown up here but really I wouldn’t say it’s bad! There’s Gloucester Quays / peel centre for shopping, cinema and food places (also bingo lol). Ooh and the new food dock! Hempstead has the canal past it in most places which is a lovely walk. I can’t say I know too much about there specifically. There’s plock court (massive field) robinswood hill, other parks around I’m sure. Ooh wholly gelato (milk/ice cream farm is near Hempstead!! Have cows though to show the kids! Fair amount of history here. The town itself is a bit run down but not terrible. We have tenpin bowling, soft play, escape rooms (bit of a drive) climbing walls. There’s a lido in Stroud / Stratford park. Not sure if it’s open all year. Then more places when you look further into Cheltenham and other surrounding areas x
Ran out of space (oops) I would personally avoid kingsway at all costs 😆 Although cheaper houses due to the area and Tredworth. Other places but not really awful. Hopefully you get to have a good look around xx
Hi we’re in hucclecote which is in Gloucester. We have two dogs and there is plenty of walks around here (and fields) and quite a few other dogs around if your dog likes playing with others. There is also a couple of soft plays I’m not sure what they’d be like getting on a bus / walking as I drive but the buses around me are quite regular some are every 10 mins and 20 mins. Also it’s quite easy to get into Gloucester town on the bus as it’s a straight line probably only 20 mins ish and also quite easy to get to Cheltenham on the same bus route just going the other way xx
I used to live in London and swore I’d never leave so when we moved I really didn’t know if it would be for me and thought I’d end up back in London. I live in Cheltenham and it’s just the best (sorry I can’t comment on living in Gloucester specifically although when I pop in it reminds me of Croydon) It has lots going on but with more affordable housing than places like Cheltenham and Stroud etc. I’m also a mum of a 7m old and an active dog 😊
We live in Linden and it’s lovely. Very close to the centre & Quays, mostly families (esp our road), St Pauls primary school is cute, we can walk to literally 4 supermarkets and don’t have permit parking. People are actually generally friendly (as friendly as British people can be 😂) and not up themselves (probably because we are just more down to earth types as its not a crazy wealthy place. Yes Gloucester is considered the less fancy version of cheltenham but really people think it’s worse than it is. There’s loads going on for a small place & if you want a more London vibe you can go to Bristol for the day really easily. I love Stroud but actually Glos is easier to get around without driving. Longlevens is really nice if you have the budget (I grew up there). Lots of detached houses with big gardens. Tredworth is actually not bad especially the side towards Stroud Road. There are loads of good secondary schools to choose from - private & state across Glos, Chelt & Stroud
@Casey thanks for the insight! That’s really helpful 😊 I did hear it’s a bit rough, but didn’t want to mention it in the post as I didn’t want to accidentally offend anyone 😅 to be fair, we come from a shit hole in London and I’m sure it’s way better over there 😂 Sounds like there’s quite a bit going on which is nice!! Looking forward to visiting on sat 😊
@Alice oh hey I live in Linden too! 😄
Hey! I live in Stonehouse that’s like 10-20mins from the city centre but train is like 5 mins from city centre! I love Stonehouse! Also Kingsway is lovely place to live in!
