I just birthed here! They give you nothing :( I had to send hubby out to buy extra maxi pads, diapers, wipes, etc. all they gave me yesterday was a peribottle 🤣
They do provide those things but minimally. I would bring some things that make you feel comfortable. I brought really loose pajamas and sweat pants and some shoes that can easily be slipped on and off. Also, we brought a power bar so we could plug in any electronics we needed to - phone, camera battery charger, laptop. Also, bring some flip flops for shower shoes and anything you want to wash yourself with. That first shower after labour is a much deserved one. Get clean and comfy! You will definitely deserve it afterwards mom!
Bring comfy clothes, change of underwear, robe, slippers, water bottle, swaddles for baby if u want to use yours, take me home clothes for baby, tooth brush, your shampoos and stuff, a robe, extension cord to hook up your phone charger
I did, they provide like 3 diapers 2 pads for yourself and a baby hat
I can't remember if I brought a towel from home. I probably did.
They don't really give you anything. Your first pad, and depending on your nurse she might give you more. I was given a couple diapers, but that's not necessarily normal. We brought everything we would need
I did back in 2020 they provided with minimal supplies and my SIL did in 2022 said they provided them with nothing
I should say, they provide you with gowns to wear, and baby blankets to use for the baby. Meals for mom as well, however the Tim Horton's and pizza place downstairs is better food. They also provide you with a peri bottle!
Things they give: Sanitary pads: You have to always ask them just to give you big ones all they have placed around the bathtroom are small ones which do nothing. Small tube of Vaseline: They give you a small tube to use on your baby that you can take home with you but it’s not much. Daiper: they have a small bunch stocked underneath the baby’s hospital bed/cube. If you want more you could ask them but they don’t really necessarily provide full on diapers that you could take with you after leaving. Robe: they give you a robe to wear the whole time you’re there and if you need a clean one just ask and they will give you one. Warm blankets: they have warm blankets somewhere in a warmer outside just ask whenever & they should give you some. Continued…
What I personally found when I had both my two kids at Oshawa Lakeridge Hospital it’s like you always gotta ask them for certain things you need and they will give you it’s not an automatic thing but they do have necessary things needed for the mother to use placed in areas you can find like the bathroom or baby hospital bed/cube. I had no issues giving birth at oshawa hospital Birthing suite as the experience both times were great the staff were amazing an accommodating whenever I needed anything. Hope this helps.
@Jen do you know if they sell the package for 25
@Destiny I delivered our Baby at lakeridge Oshawa 2 weeks ago and had to stay for 6+ days (due to a few complications). We packed our own stuff, but not enough for 6+ days. We needed more diapers, Vaseline, and large pads - and they didn’t charge us $25 for more. Our nurses were so kind and provided them to us. However I’m not sure if this is just generally how they operate or because we were in quarantine at the hospital (4 hours into labour they thought I had Covid, texted me, and 12 hours later I tested negative for Covid, but positive for influenza A). All the staff who visited us had to get into PPE whenever they visited our room. So bc we weren’t allowed to leave our room, I think they may have offered it to us for free (alongside other things like an extra hospital meal for my husband at every meal time and an upgrade to a private room without charging us).
I was at Lakeridge Ajax. They did provide sanitary pads for me and diapers for the baby. They had no wipes. They provided a sample diaper cream/vaseline (which we later learned was needed before baby’s first bowel movement for easier cleaning). It doesn’t hurt to bring some extra stuff.
