@Mee I know a lot of nannies prefer off the books also
We pay around $3100 for daycare in Lower Manhattan. I’d say the going rate is $3-$4k, and it will get a bit cheaper as the baby gets older.
Nannies start at 25/hour and go up depending on experience and duties required
I considered Kindercare daycare because they have a location near my job but since I’m part time remote, my husband and I decided to alternate days. The cost of childcare is insane in this city. I haven’t found any part time daycares (2 days per week). Considering what they charge for full time, I would rather contribute the 3K/month towards a 529 plan
@Beth wait $3100 a week!?
3000-4000 per month roughly
@Margaux damn. I'm putting myself out there if anyone is willing to pay this, I'll come nanny for y'all. I'm a mom and I have daycare experience
It goes from 3800-4200 in Manhattan. It's Ridiculously expensive if you are actually looking to put your baby in places that you can trust. I visited Bright Horizon and Kinder Care but the rest didn't sound like nice places, just expensive. In the end, ended up quitting my job and staying home to raise my kid for the first year and I don't regret it.
@Naliaka ah no, per month!!
Midtown, "cheapest" daycare two years ago was close to $3600. This is before early drop off or late pick up. UES mom groups, responses are mostly from nannies, range from $25 to $30 for a single child. I don't know if this is on/off the books but on the books, you'll pay a percentage higher for tax.
