I'm so sorry it's really tough, keep pushing and advocating, see if there might also be other things like food allergies contributing and for the scratching at night we put our LO in ScratchSleeves which work so well so she can't do as much damage xx
My baby don’t have eczema so I might not be the best to help But for me you or not overreacting Also for the night maybe you can find baby mittens so she won’t scratch her face 🥹 I’m so sorry for her hope you will find asap a new pedestrian
@Savannah thank you so much for your time and help. I even went to my family doctor she saw her in person and told me that I need to get educated around eczema and that there is no concern and no need to see a dermatologist. I’m in Toronto btw… they make me think and look like im going crazy for no reason. I called my paediatrician’s office to tell them that she’s bleeding behind her knees etc and the doctor didn’t even bother calling back. Our last appointment with her was horrible for several reasons. And to find a new paediatrician has a long wait list, 3 months for sure 😞 I’m afraid of food allergies too as you said, I eliminated dairy from my diet and again had no improvement. Plus both doctors told me that food groups, soaps and fragrances don’t affect eczema. I am shocked! It can’t be…
@Rebecca unfortunately in Canada you can’t see a specialist without referral. I tried the tubby Todd and I feel she got worse. I’m giving it a break before I try again
Try grape seed oil! I have eczema and psoriasis. My dermatologist said getting injections or meds were the only way to go, I got another one and she suggested the grape seed oil! It’s amazing, my irritating spots have gone. Been using for 2 years now. I’m a licensed cosmetologist/esthetician, learned so much about the skin and knew something else could work. Definitely suggest giving it a try, can get it at grocery stores
@maria This is fucked up even if ur doctor assumes it's eczema u deserve to know FOR SURE I would say get it in writing that u are being denied care for ur baby. Keep records of all ur visits. Even if ur baby had eczema there's things out there to help so the fact that they just leave u to struggle makes me SO MAD! Also like someone else said ask if u can see another doctor at the same location.
@Bella exactly that too! How do I know that it’s not some other type of dermatitis? Can the paediatrician diagnose that!? I’m so fed up at this point. We visit the paediatrician every month… every month she comes up with a new thing to try. At 2 months old hydrocortisone. At 3 months calendula and Vaseline. at 4 months to bath her everyday. At 5 months the appt was 3 minutes and didn’t give me anytime for questions neither she mentioned anything about her skin. She literally left the room had me waiting thinking she’ll come back but that was it! So weird! Thought that I would change paediatrician but now I come to realize there’s an average 3 month waitlist to join somebody’s practice in Toronto… these doctors will drive me nuts telling me I’m overreacting 🙄 I’ve been patient all this time but nothing has helped us so far
My son had ezcema like that starting at 2.5-3 months. At 4 months our pediatrician suggested I cut out dairy since I breastfeed, which helped a lot of his ezcema. Then he broke out in hives from an oat ezcema lotion and I cut out oats as well because it seemed to be a problem. Since that helped she referred him to an allergist and he ended up being allergic to milk, oats and eggs. I hope you figure it out soon, it might be worth taking some kind of log on what she could be eating and cutting things out that might be inflamming it.
My Lo had the same issue, he will be itching and scratching both day and night, I have used several creams and lotion, I cut milk, egg and orange juice since they makes it worst.it very difficult to see your baby suffering without knowing how to help.
My baby is also suffering from eczema, it really sucks. Bloorkids is accepting new patients @maria although Idn if I recommend it or not yet. Our paediatrician just prescribed her hydrocortisone, day 3 and no changes…
@Justyna hydrocortisone does literally nothing for us! And it’s been 5 months we are on and off on using it. I tried la Roche Passay the series Lipikar!!! Shampoo, moisturizer and face cream. Hands down Big difference! It’s almost gone in 2 days. Also I’m using bebanthol baby cream. Text me if you want me to send you the links. I’m planning to use the products for a week and then I’ll post them in the group to help any mamas out there ❤️
@maria I have the lipikar as well maybe I need to use it more consistently, I feel like im just using a million different products without consistency because I am so desperate for help. I also bought mustela stelatopia emollient cream. I also began doing chamomile tea soaks on her face. When using the creams are you applying Vaseline or aquafor on top of them? How long do you wait in between? Can you give me details for your regimens? My poor girl isn’t able to sleep because she is so itchy :(
@Mary Ann is this spray safe for babies?
@Justyna yes

I just wanted to add onto this, my sons pediatrician is in Etobicoke, she prescribed us something called betaderm, we even got sent to an allergist for this in Oakville because they’re less of a wait time, I was willing to commute & they gave me the same thing plus a few others. Ask your doctor for betaderm it’s a life saver, my son was having horrible flare ups similar to this! If you’re willing to commute, since I see you’re near by me, ask to be referred to the Oakville allergy and asthma clinic. I hope this was some help to you💗hope your little one gets better! Also to add that we also seen a dermatologist via zoom with dermcafe!! There was no wait time and he gave us so much good tips and tricks and other medication because my son had horrible cradle cap growing onto his face!
@Justyna I apply lipikar in the morning when she wakes up during the diaper change. Sometimes during the day when I see her skin starts to become dry. A 5 minute bath in the evening with lipikar cream wash and then on wet skin I apply the lipikar moisturizer. While her hair is wet I apply moisturizer on her scalp too. She had wounds behind her knees and I’m trying to let her skin breathe by j not wearing her pants. Because she is scratching her legs I will only do that when she is on the carrier on my or on tummy time or in the activity centre/saucer ✌️ I wear her mittens at night and at every nap and when I put her down and she starts scratching I will gently put my hand and try to stop her or hold her legs(bc she’s using her legs to scratch each calf 😮💨) most times she’ll go into a deep sleep and forget about the itchiness
@Justyna I also stopped applying any other cream like aquaphor or Vaseline at all. I mixed creams together for like 4 months and I think it’s a no. Plus one doctor is saying first hydrocortisone and then moisturizer and the other moisturizer first. I’ve heard about the chamomile tea soaks, some add chamomile on their bath as well. Did it work for you guys? Are you at the states? There is a product from frezyderm called atropel and I would try this next if I can get my hands to it. Also there is a cream called bebanthol that I managed to get from Europe and I use it for diaper rashes and extreme rashes/cuts in between her rolls. Don’t want to glitch it but I finally see some light in the tunnel. Also did you see a dermatologist or managed to figure out what is causing the rashes for your baby?
@Andrina I have an appointment on the 10th of the month. Will definitely discuss these options with our paediatrician ❤️ thank you so much ☺️
@Andrina did the allergist do an allergy test? Any luck with what could be the trigger? @maria her skin does look less irritated immediately after the soaks but Idn if it’s working other than providing in the moment relief. I started putting it in her bath as well. Important thing is to make sure the water cools down before applying the soaks to her face. She doesn’t like it in the moment but the redness does go down, even briefly so I keep doing it…. I haven’t seen a dermatologist yet. I was using hydrocortisone prescribed by my doc and stopped using it yesterday…and now today we are back with a bigger flare up. I just booked another visit with my paediatrician so he can hopefully refer to dermatologist but I also want an allergist so we can figure out the trigger and eliminate it. I stopped eating dairy and nuts right now, we will see if that helps…. My friend who has eczema said she drinks apple cider vinegar and that prevents her flare ups, I will try this.
@Justyna for us the trigger is polyester and acrylic clothing, perfumes and any detergent or cream with perfume. Make up and hair products is a big no as well. I wash all our clothes with her detergent and I use her creams on me. I can only wear het cotton clothes. Even wool is rough on their skin. Hydrocortisone is tricky… I came to understand that you can’t stop it cold turkey… you’ll have to gradually stop using it otherwise the flare ups come back and they’re even worse.
Have you tried cutting food from your diet if you’re breastfeeding? Could be an allergy
I’m sorry baby is dealing with this. With my first Zoe organic Cream helped a lot. With my second we use Tubby Todd all over ointment. Do you need a referral? Can you just look up dermatologist in your area? Or ask around for a recommendation?
