Irish twins

Anyone else hate when people refer to their ‘2 under 2’ as ‘Irish twins’ What’s the deal ? Never heard anything more ridiculous. People trying to pretend they’ve got twins when they ain’t. Coming from a real twin mama 🤣

Actually Irish twins are 2 under 1 not 2 under 2. And it’s not people pretending they have twins it’s just a saying. It was something to make fun of the Irish catholics for not having access to contraception back in the day.

Irish are two under 1, it’s an old saying from the 1800s and was derogatory for Irish catholics immigrants implying they had no self control, no education and lack of birth control. It’s not stealing thunder from real twin mummies or pretending to be a twin mum, it’s just a saying for those who got pregnant back to back. If you’ve got 2 under 1 you’ve got Irish twins. From an Irish Catholic mama 😂 xx
