My baby girl was the same. She got ‘diagnosed’ with reflux today after fighting so hard for 4 months to get an answer was told to just try her on anti reflux formula and she’s already less gassy after only 12 hours of the new formula. X
We already tried the AR Aptamil but she was even worse on it, that’s why our GP suggested the thickener…😔
Was she in discomfort before the carobel? It can cause lots of digestive discomfort and issues for some babies. We tried my little boy on it several times as he has severe reflux and it always caused him to be in so much pain x
@Hannah No, she was not. She had regular stools and being gassy was a very rare thing for her… I am not sure what else we can try for her reflux that will not cause her so much pain and discomfort 😔. How are you managing with your boy’s reflux?
I have a nearly 5 month old LG and we have used carobel for nearly two months now with breastmilk. We give infacol before every feed and keep upright after for at least 20 mins and make sure she gets a good few burps up. We have a snuzpod and she does not settle in it at all and that’s because she’s flat on her back and it will affect the reflux (so I’ve been told). Again they dont recommend it for nighttime but in the day we use the pram in our room/downstairs as she’s no longer in the basinett and now in the pram chair where you can adjust the incline- so we have that on the first one. (It’s practically flat but just abit of a raise up for their reflux). People also told us to put books under the next to me on one side so it’s slanted but only slightly. I’ll be honest I’ve got a super reflux baby and I’m BF and had to cut out dairy for last 2 weeks as they now think she also has CMPA so I feel you with the whole not settling and discomfort! Hoping it gets easier for us soon❤️
@Maya You could try infant gaviscon. It gave my little boy really bad constipation but obviously they’re all different and it works for others! Otherwise the tips below about keeping upright for 20 mins after feeds and having a slight incline for sleep might help. There are also reflux formulas available you could try. If it’s affecting her weight or she is in pain with the reflux I’d ask about a referral to the feeding team as there are stronger medications they can try or cows milk free formulas, but if it’s just lots of sick without pain and she’s gaining weight well it might be just a case of waiting it out. It normally gets better with milder reflux (with no pain etc) around 6 months when they start getting more mobile and/or weaning. My little boy is on omeprazole but I wouldn’t advise it if she doesn’t have pain as it can have longer term side effects and is hard to wean off. We had to put him on it as he would scream in pain all night and vomit tons of blood from the acid x
How is your little one now? Did anything help? Our boy has very extreme reflux & is on carobel and lanzoprazole but his gas is now horrific. Grunts so loud and cries in pain when he farts.
Ah my baby was the same we got prescribed anti reflux milk by aptamil maybe that’s what you may need to try instead it’s like we have a different baby since this milk x
