Using a chest of drawers as changing unit

We used a malm chest of drawers from Ikea and a changing mat with raised sides on top with my first baby as I refused to spend money on changing units or baby furniture that s expensive, tiny and then u have to get rid of later. Worked perfectly well 👌🏻

I got a table changing and yesterday after got the changing mat I feel I want to change to the bigger drawers from ikea because I want to able to put other stuff on the surface .

Yeah I think this is the route I want to take as I can put her clothes in there as well. I think I just need to measure the wall before I purchase it.

@Sasha I like that, I have the bigger one to this currently for mine and hubs clothes and it has the tv on it. It would be too tall for me to use that as a changing unit. I’m quite short, but it’s the look I want just a lil shorter. How you getting on with the wicker changing basket, are you using a waterproof cover?

@Stephanie oh lovely!! I’d have loved the bigger but totally agree it’s too tall to use for a changing unit. I love the wicker basket, I purchased it through vinted and it came with a waterproof mat to go inside which is perfect 🥰. We do have a generic mamas and papas essential change mat just in case baby isn’t keen 🤣

Yes 👏🏽 I had the same thought. We went to ikea and brought the koppang chest of drawers and the plan is to put the changing mat on top of it then when she’s older we don’t have room buy something new!

I got a changing table, just for everyone to recommend I got a chest of drawers and a topper instead! Quite a common thing xx
